Most mileage had from an engine?
Hi, I've had a few 106's and now 2 saxo vtr's all with what I'd consider high mileage, my current daily has 135k and it runs sweet as a nut, but it's been serviced well, so what I'm asking is how far will these engines go before any major rebuild work is needed on them?
And how high mileage are other peoples engines on? And any problems?

Our VTR has 170,000 miles on the original engine - serviced by me regularly, had a new clutch three years ago but other than that nothing done to the engine and still pulls very well - very reliable car.

It all depends on servicing and how they are used.
Some were hammered from new, stone cold and serviced every 20,000 miles.
Some were warmed up, driven sympathetically and serviced every 5,000 miles.

1.5D, on 165,000 miles + 3 years of driving with no working speedo.
probably closer to 200k I've no idea
bit rough to start but once it's going it's fine.
one previous owner who used it as a farm runabout. it got ragged to feck everywhere.

My vtr is on 115k and still running pretty sweet the only issues i've had engine wise is with lumpy idle and revs problems which I think all saxo's suffer with at some point!

I had a 1.1 106 on 146k, sold it with 148k on. I paid £200 for it, spent £50 on replacing some bits to make it run better, still pulled well for a 1.1!

just keep changing the oil + filter nd it could reah 200k .
oil is the blood of an engine ,so as it gets old change it more frequently than service manual says .
If its black ,then time to change it
we service a couple of taxi,s that have done 400k --turbo diesels --not even a turbo yet --no secret --change the oil and make sure ir runs at correct water temp --too cold is as bad as too hot
