Thumbs down fuel pump

having some issues with the vts having a flat spot at 4-5k
went out to the car today turned ignition on a fuel pump sounded like it was priming only thing is it didnt stop was stood for a couple of minutes and it was still buzzing away so i started the car (started fine) warmed it up held the throttle at 2500rpm and it was coughing and popping reved it some more and it was fine but if you hold the throttle steady it missfires pops and farts any ideas why? cheers tom

Possibly your fuel pump relay is causing the fuel pump to over prime,thus your overfueling mate.

I very much doubt the really is the problem. Yes it controls the pump, but only on/off/prime, but the regulator on the end of the rail controls the pressure. If it revs fine, especially under full load, then I wouldn't imagine it's a fuel problem.

i will try coil next as i have changes all other sensors incl lamda so coil is the onlything i havnt changed so after doing some searching im going to put a xsi coil on and some 8.5mm lucas leads see how it goes

Take your spark plugs out & check the colour you`ll soon know if its overfueling,because the tips will be sooty black in colour.

new plugs went in 5k ago an were a coffee brown
