Piper 4-1: lambda problemo's
(This is for a mk2 silver top furio) I came home today and had a nicely wrapped parcel from GMC and it was my new piper mani so i unwrapped it and noticed that the lambda hole is right down the bottom of the manifold is this right? As it seems a very long stretch? Unlike my janspeed one which was up in one of the bends.
Have they sent me the wrong one? or do i just have to make the wires longer?

Your need to extend the wires and sleeve the other lambda sensor

As above although on my old Vts the lambda did reach right down the back, give that a go before you start cutting wires as it may reach!!!

Don't extend the wires of the lambda. If you look at the wiring loom for the lambda connector, you can cut the plastic holding the wires together to give you a bit more length. If you drop the lambda wire over the back of the gearbox it should reach!

No worries. I fitted the same manifold to a mate's car recently - we extended the lambda but it was overfueling to the point of popping of flames. Probably used the wrong grade wire or something.
Either way, just cut that plastic sleeving which holds the wires of the lambda connector with the coolant temp sensor etc. and drop it over the back of gearbox.

im sure you need to cap off one ov the oxygen sensors ,on the vtr there is a pre sensor on the original manifold & the other is a post sensor which sits below the cat on down pipe, to add a racing mani like the one in the pic above you attach the post sensor to where the hole is in the pic above & thr other sensor which is the pre sensor can be cabled up in the engine bay , to do this you can purchase a screw-on stainles steel sleeve to cover the tied up sensor as you wont need to use this sensor .the reason you need to sleeve the sensor is because they burn up to smell the gases in the mani thus getting your chemical reading for the ecu , so it is important to sleeve the sensor so it don cause a potential fire in your engine bay. so basically you only use the post sensor when modding your mani frm std to phase 1/ 2 etc.
