Unless you've got money to burn then no!
I have a mk1 vtr (90bhp std) - fitted newman ph3 camshaft, Baker BM adjustable pulley, remapped with 7k rev limit, rallye inlet manifold and throttle body, supersprint 4/2/1 manifold and straight throuigh race pipe along with a few other things, very quick off the line around 6.8-7.0 seconds flat to 60mph, it's got a printout on the rollers for 118bhp.
it's a lot of fun but for the price of all this exceeding 1.5k you may aswell 16v it unless you have a paticular thing for 8v's - it does sound awesome though!

And it destroys fuel - roughly 80-90 miles off £20 vpower!

You don't have to buy anything! this is advice for someone else.
running vtr box, and it annihalates a friends 106 gti which is std aparts from a 4/2/1 mani, backbox, and cda induction

Not doubting it doesnt pull well etc, just think its a bit optimistic considering the gti has more power and torque, plus a gearbox without insanely long ratios.
I just read that those mods cost you £1500, so my advice to the OP if you have to stick to 8v is a rallye top end conversion with associated ecu and loom, vernier, breathing mods all the usual would give you those close to figures for a third of the cost if that, taking into account renewing gaskets etc.

Not at all as said "from my experience" of my car, which has been family owned and maintained since new, can't speak for everyone as i'm sure not everyone would look after their cars to that same high standard!

Will kill some time, as I genuinely do not have anything better to do, at least before 5pm
