Well they don't though, that's the thing! You have to alternate between say working your abs and then something else, so just constant crunches for example wouldn't work, you'd need to do something after crunches.
It is intriguing I think, I may give it a go as I only really carry abdominal fat and some on my back at the minute... Would be interesting to see if I could reduce it doing it.

it would kind of make sense. Im no gym goer, i just go hiking and walking with dogs all the time. I have absolutely no fat on my arms or legs, but have -by comparison- a lot round my waist.
Time to just start doing exercises for midriff muscles. ill see how i get on.

Funny you should say that, as I too used to do a bit of hiking/walking and at the gym I would do mainly squats/deadlifts/bench press/shoulder press, and funnily enough I too have very little fat on my legs, arms, shoulders. Remember, exercise midriff then sprint or something, see if it works.

Might give this ago then. Still a good work out to do even if it doesn't. Holiday in a few days so will leave it till after then. Farmers walk n sprints ones for me. Could do at the end of a work out, last few times I have been doing rowing with a mate 500m taking turns, whilst other does abs, not a million miles away from what's been said.
