when i put mine in i just cut the little adapter thing off and clipped the wires into the speaker part where they go. all the extra fittings came with my new speakers so i used them. dont cut the plastic adapter off though if your going to take the speakers out to put the old ones back in ever

iy you cut off the plug its not the worst thing in the world they will just need to attach som spade connectors or solder them to the origional speaker.

The haynes maunal colours are different but im sure i had the sam colours as you, what i done was connect a speaker and listen to it very carefully, note how clear it is, what the bass is like etc...

swap the wires round and again note what it sounds like, compare each scenario and whatever sounded clearest with each note be reproduced properly use this as you setup

all wired up now. For anyone that needs to know, pink is positive and green is negitive.

Dont worry bout the wires it wound damage the speaker, You can tell if they are on the wrong connection as the speaker will move inwards, when it should move outwards
