They go very well, I had a full scorpion de-catted system with a supersprint manifold on mine and it was worth the money.

Frees up the revs no end, sounds stunning and gains you a few horse.
Outright speed will not be changed though.

Ive got Manifold, Sports Cat and Cat back system all Janspeed and was very happy with the power gains (to quite for me still) any of the top manufactures Exhaust wise are good.
If your looking for a more quite sytem then Magnex or Janspeed is a good choice, if your looking for bit more noise Mongoose, Scorpion and Piper all do well, there is always the custom route any back box as loud or quite as you want for around the same kinda money as a off the shelf job.
As for Manifolds two options 421-more low down performance or 41-more high end performance. Then just really Stainless steel or Mild steel.
For best gains (and sound) decat the system just remember Mr MOT will want to see the Cat in for the MOT.

For best performance streight pipe from the manifold to the back side of the car. Change the exhaust manifold and put a good muffler and thats it. Thats what i did and i am happy with it. It's very noisy but i don't care . This configuration may be a problem i UK because of MOT. I don't have such a problems here

i think a straight pipe from the manifold to the back will decrease your torque, due to no back pressure

ofcourse it will decrease the torque, but will rise your horse power at higher rpm's
