ALT Noise..?
I know most people on here hate 6x9's but i have them and dont have a prob with them, just if anyone knows how to stop the engine noise you get coming through the speakers. Or do i need to re-wire the power cable down the opposite side of all the other cables? Also How have people run all the cables down to the boot? I seem to have two audio cables running down the back a power cable and an amp remote, and i cant put the carpet back to the door seal. i have run it all down the passengers side. Cheers REP given

just found some audio cable splitters which will mean i will only need one set of audio cables running down the back. When it stops raining i will go back out to the car and unplug the un-needed audio cable. Will a ground loop prevent the engine noise?

Just take passenger seat out so you can do it easier. Only takes 2mins. Then run remote and rca down the right side. Then speaker down the middle and power down the left.
Personally i would take both seats out. Would put rca remote down drivers side speaker down middle and power down passenger side.

It should take you no longer than 30mins mate. Ive never had this problem wiring the way i have said. There is probably other ways as well.

Think its 40torzes screws. Four to be exact on the runners. Then pull sill off the side off the doors. Should be 5/6 clips holding carpet and a bolt near the bonnet pop thingy. Lift carpet up jobs a good un

crawley near gatwick. Wont the thick audio cables stick out a little if you run them down the middle of the car? What do you do with the left over audio cable? At the moment i have them under the rear seats is there an alternative?

wont notice it under the carpet, its too thick, dont worry about the excess cable, just dont make it into a coil though, will become a magnet.dont put an earth loop on it as that will mean you hear the alternator still and probably make it worse

so would seperating the cables as above would that prevent any alternator noise? It can really be annoying when i have the sterio turned down. I have re-done the earth and still get the noise. Going to put the cables down the middle at the weekend or something.

I wouldn't bother seperating the cables, it shouldn't make a difference if they are just run next to each other.
Alt noise can be caused by a problem on the RCA earth tracks in the headunit. Try another HU to see if that is what is causing it. Likewise damaged RCAs can do it.

well the audio cables are the normal cheapish purple ones you can buy from halfords. They are new aswell as the sony headunit so i wouldnt of thought that would of been the problem. A friend of mine said because they are all clumped together and probably running down the same side as all the car wires that they could be interfering. My mate run his down different sides and you cant hear any noise. so ill give that a try cheers fella's

Yeh you're right seanp06, I suppose .
Give it a shot it's worth trying as it's not exactly hard to do. I wouldn't worry too much about any of the cables apart from the RCAs though as they tend to be the problem. In theory running the cables together shouldn't make a difference although I have to admit; the amount of people that find it solves their problems is a pretty large amount...

depends on how good a quality of rca you buy, higher spec models have casings to protect them from interferrence so its when you buy cheap wiring kits that you see problems which is what most people do

when laying your wires down try not to run them next to each other as this will cause some interferance as well.

Just try keeping them far away as possible from each other
