Mk2 Vtr, Cat in Manifold
Due to my car being a 02 plate Vtr my cat is in the manifold!
I recently bought myself a nice straight through stainless exhaust system and realy wanted to get a stainless manifold aswell but the cash flow is rather low at the moment!
My question is;
If i were to knock/bash all the honeycome type catylist material out of the standard manifold, would there be any gains? ie, performance or sound?
Would there also be a downside to this apart from mot time as i have a Mk1 cat that i can bolt on under the car?
Cheers in advance!
Ben

you aye see some gains but i dont think its worth it
nest off getting a gmc manifold it de cats it and you get a manifold
cost is 310 and you will need a sleeve for the 2nd lamba sensor thats inc in that price but you will need to tell them you want it

Yea, iv seen a few stainless manifolds that im interested in but iv just not got the cash at the mo!
Do you think it would be worth while doing for a few months untill i save for a stainless one?
Would it make my exhaust sound raspier?

why dont you buy a 2nd standard manifold from a saxo without the cat in it and sell yours on to pay for it?
But if you can wait get the gmc manifold.

he said he's got a cat that will fit under the car so it would just need fitting into the centre section,
far too much hassle just get a gmc one when you can afford it

yeah but they aint massively expensive, i have been through all this when supercharging my vtr as it was a gay cat in manifold mk2 thinking how i could do it come mot as i got btb and gmc manifold and the simple way is to have a mk1 full exhaust that i fit for the mot.

yeah there not expensive about 20 from scrappy
but what im saying is for the increase he would get from smashing hsi cat to bits i dont think its worth buying things like new cat and middle pipe he might aswell put the money towards a new manifold or even second hand manifold

To clear things up, i am currently running a Mk1 full system with a de-cat where the cat under the car would be on a Mk1!
So it would be easy enough to swap the de-cat over with a cat from a Mk1!
I think il just have to do a bit of saving!
