i think at 21, you can do the HGV liscence, which allows 7.5 tonne u pto a certain limit, and for something like an artic, you need another one.
Yorkie would be good to ask

Bloke on ZSOC has done this/is doing it.....you need to get your C1 first (which anyone over about 26 has anyway, us youngsters don't have that entitlement, then you can straight away do the next bits....
Kris from ZS has just passed his theory for Class 1 (I think, maybe Class 2) and has his test soon!

There is two licences
Category C - This is for rigid vehicles i.e the ones that are not articulated they normally have three axles
Category C+E - This is for articulated vehicles i.e the ones that have a tractor unit that can seperate from the trailer
You can do the C and then the C+E straight after.
You have to be over 21 though!
I used to work for a freight company during the summer. The rigid drivers do alot more drops, that means alot more driving about in city centres.
The arctic drivers do fewer drops and dont normally do alot of town centre work.
If you find a company that wants drivers they will train you and pay for you to take the tests. You may have to work for them for a certain number of years after though. Hope this helps,
Ben
