Default Battery in boot without relay system!!!!

Thinking of just mounting a huge leisure battery in the boot to allow for multiple amps and thicker cables at cheaper prices, where I'll differ from previous sysytems if I do it is in not having the leisure battery charging off the front battery, only charging it every month or whenever it gets low on charge.

Has anyone else done this and how long did the battery charge last on different usages?

total wast of time mate. for the cost of a split charge relay just split charge it, you dont need a massive cable to supply the charge 4 guage will do. I used to know a guy who did this with a mini with an spl install but he only played it for a min to give a reading. its not worth it in an every day install and it all depends what amp houre the battery is and how many amps you are taking from it.

Thinking 3 x amps off roughly a 800amp leisure battery. Alpine 707, 757 and sony xm255.

I thought about another relay system but it's still a big drain on the front battery.

Reevesy incidently I've just won an Alpine mrv-757 off ebay for £52 in a bid to power a small magnetted 125 rms JL 10w0, do you think a 8 guage wire* will be ok for the amp? I'm not bothered about ultimate max power from the unit but blowing fuses would be a ball-ache.

*existing wire to the Sony xm amp.

8 guage is a bit thin IMO i would always go for 4 guage or bigger as it gives you the option to upgrade. the bigger the wire the less resistance you will get in the boot and that meens the amp will work better.

Wired up the bridged 757 with the 8 guage and it plays ok, I don't think the terminals would be happy with anything bigger tbh. I've given the smaller power wire to the full-range 707 and it does seem a bit quieter now. The 125 rms JL 10w0 seems to be happy taking the might of the 400rms 757 and I have gain above half and the db boost wicked up. I can't actually get it to distort, even with the deck turned up full, I just daren't risk the gain over 3/4. It really is an awesome sub. Just hope it holds out.

Maybe my full alpine range amp is quieter and doesn't distort because the rca input is coming from the other Alpine amp and not a cheap old sony unit.

What 10" would you recommend if I blew the JL Reevesy? a type R? W3/7?

A lesuire battery will not run well.

Research out how car batteries work and store power.

You will need a Deep cycle battery for sound related power.

Had a leisure battery before that did a decent job, just know where to get mamouth sized ones that don't break the bank. I've opted for a smaller amp now so don't really have juice issues.
