Default can the cops do me

i was just about to leave from work(a petrol station)in my car, all of a sudden a new mk5 silver golf does a mad maneuver and come right behind me. this is the thing, i was gonna turn left but noticed a yellow jacket in the car so went right. then i saw west midlands police on the side of the car!!

i blew off as i had tints, no front numberplate and also my numberplates are illegal. i also only taxed my car about 4 o clock so they probs thought my car wasnt taxed.

i pulled up at home and a few minutes later i heard a knock at the door, i peeped through my window and saw them - they looked at the car and went.

can i get done for this anything - dont forget i didnt speed infront of them and also they didnt put the sirens on?????

No- as far as i know nothing they can do now, im not sure why they would come round, perhaps they checked the tax register and saw you wernt on it, so they might have been chasingthat up based on your address, saw your tax disc and called it at that.
If they saw your numberplate off, unless they saw it on the road there is nothing they can do, a/insufficient evidence b/not illegal to have it on your driverway without one.
If i was you i would go round to the police station and ask them what they wanted, say you wernt in but a neighbour saw them- play dumb, just act innocent.
even if they did have anything on you (proof of no registration plate) say that it fell off on the journey you had just made and was unaware of it.

If your unsure of anything or anything does come of this- let me know.
Im such a good blagger- i think thats why im going to become a defence barrister. or pilot lol

driving without a front number plate is illegal and obviously having illegal plates are illegal so and if the tints are illegal then they would be the main concerns to the police but if they just looked at the car and walked off then you may get away with it,

i would take it as a warning to get the car sorted before you get pulled as the police could give you 3 points for each offense mate!

cheers for the advice people but my plate was in the window but you can hardly see it. the reason i never stop for under cover coppers in my area as there is one racist c.i.d officer that has it in for me - even though he has never got me for anything he always pulls me over and i just cant be bother - whats funny is that i always blow him unless he is in the t5

if you had a plate showing in the windscreen then that is legal mate, would just sort the tints out because cops who are harsh (or racist) can give you 3 points for them and a fine.

yeah sorry, i didnt read the bit about the plate in the windscreen! if they didnt notice on the road then tough! you could have put it there when you got back.
I would be extremely carefull from now on though- i got stopped once on my university campus doing what they thought was 'michael schumacher speeds'- i was actually doing about 25 in a 20 zone- fair enough, got away with this but cops always seemed to follow me and when i saw the same cop he always gave me a good look- alot of them will do anything to be right- jobsworths, dont let the ones like that have that satisfaction.

just thought i'd add im not a chav and my car isnt exactly massively modded, so i didnt attract there doogooding eyes.

lol ive done this a few times....

i had the stupid coppa corsa in wakey following me for ages right up my arse. So when i got a chance to go at a roundabout on the 41 and he had to wait a nailed it away......

also had the BMW 4x4 thing up my arse and it came up rapidly behind me and had to anchor on to not hit me.... then i just went down a windy country lane in denby dale that was national speed limit, no way was that fucker doing 50 - 60 round some of those bends haha.....

aslong as they dont catch you breaking the law they cant touch ya! They might have got a vid of you without the front plate but you could probably fabricate a story about that....

If the car is parked on a drive off Her Maj's streets then they cant do anything to you car as its on Public property regardless of Tax, Number plates, Tints etc, athough they could sit and wait for you to drive off the drive and then nab ya.

If they had seen you and wanted to stop you they would have done so on the road and done you for all of the above.

Its one thing to have naughty number plates but all of the above ontop of aswell is kinda asking for trouble, might be worth either just having normal plates if you plan on keeping your tints or the otherway run.

The Police never need more reasons to pull you over why give them extra ammo.

it is illegal to have ur number plate in the windscreen pretty sure the law states the number must be on the very front of the car (the bumper)

first thing i would do is change it all so its legal tints and number plates. then drive to local station today and ask why there was a police man knocking on ur door, just use the excuseabove that a neighbour informed u

I'm sure if they wanted you, they would have had you mate. They wouldnt have just left your house, knowing that you were in.

They might send a letter but that will be on their discretion.

thanks for whoever positive repped me with a bitchy comment..

If you're gonna drive around with no front plate, and illegal tints that's a bit silly... but driving off from the police ? !

And we all wonder why people see us as "boy racers" just because of our cars...

hmmmm.....

oh.. and to whoever repped me, "wasting my money on a VTS" .. not at all

I'm more concerned with the fact that you "blow off" the police... Still each to their own i suppose.

And Ste_1 no, the police don't have to actual witness you breaking the law to charge you - sufficient evidence is all that is required.
