I may be wrong in saying this, but do you not automatically get a 'rep' point when you reach x amount of posts?
For your first rep point that is.

Actually when you asked me to log in as you to alter your sig i noticed you had nothing up on your userCP... thought it looked funny 
You have changed some of the settings on your userCP...

James... your rep 'power' (the number next to the green blob) will increase with the number of posts you make, the amount of rep points you have and how long you have been a member...
Think when you reach 50 posts you automatically get 10 rep power...
You rep 'points' visible on userCP on in the form of green blobs only goes up when someone leaves you rep... it goes up by the same amount as the rep power of the person leaving rep...

I understand the principle of repping (didnt make myself clear),
I also got my first '1' rep without having any comment on the main profile,
upon my second rep i then received feedback.
I am 95% sure this is the case.
