The thing is most people look to simple performance figure ie bhp
You could have a car with a million bhp but if it weighs the same as a block of flats then even a mouse on a mopead could beat you to 60mph lol
Anyway your find the VTS has a much better 'Power to Weight ratio' which is much more important than out and out power.
The pug will seem bigger and less on its toes as the saxo, personally if it was a VTS against a GTi I might go for the GTi as I think the GTi is very classy, but wouldnt be as much fun to drive as the VTS.
Best advise, go and have a look at one of each on a forecourt and see what you think as you might like the inside of one than the other, who knows till you look for yourself

The only 206 worth getting is the gti. This will put it on a more equal comparison with the VTS. Its a very capable car though a little more grown up than the vts. Great handling with Leda coilovers and good gains can be got from just induction and exhaust mods. Longmans do a bolt on throttlebody kit too with a nice carbon airbox...
