Default orange peel effect

i've just painted my bonnet and the top coat of lacquer is fooked.

the first coat was fine but the second coat has an orange peel effect.

does anyone know if i can just spray another coat of lacquer over the top or do i need to sand it back down?

cheers

Wet sand man and a rotary polisher.

Get a small sanding block and wrap a piece of wet sand paper (3000 grit would be best iirc) around it, Wet sand the oranage peel away making sure you keep the area very lubricated with water. Give it a couple of passes, work the tools and not yourself so don't apply any pressure.

Once your doing use a compound on a cutting pad, equip them to a rotary polisher and take the scratches out left by wet sanding. This will work.... but you would have to re-spray the bonnet anyway if you don't want to try this.

Failing that take it to a bodyshop and they will wet sand it out in 5 minutes.

i know a guy who can do that for me so i think i'll leave it to him otherwise it will probly take longer and cost me more money in the long run.

i just wasnt sure if it could be sorted without starting again.
