Before doing this check it not your alternator as I got AA out to my saxo as power steering, blowers and back demister not working. They noticed that the battery light stays on when you start the engine up and the 3 things dont work but as soon as you rev the engine a bit the battery light goes off and all 3 work again. He said that the alternator is not charging on tick over. Still ok to drive but will get worse so new alternator needed at a later date I think.

Ive just had these three problems, and my battery light had come on too, is this normal?

This might also sound stupid, but do you do this bypass thing with the engine running or not?

Any heavy electrical loads can only be used once the alternator is charging. You could bypass these circuits but if you are not charging you will soon drain the battery and the car will not run. Eventually you will not be able to start the car anyway if the alternator is not charging the battery.

Fix....replace the alternator once you are sure it is that at fault.

Hi, I have a citroen saxo 1.5 diesel and today the power steering just packed up.
I have tried the modification and this has not worked.

The heater blower and rear demist work fine.

I have checked fuses and all seem fine. Where exactly is the relay?
Car has been fine until now.

Before I did the modification I unplugged the wires and just inserted a link wire just to try it and I swear it seemed that the steering was lighter, so I made a good strong wire link with correct terminals and now this does not work.

Any ideas where the relay is? and can anybody suggest anything else please.

Hi,

really sorry to ask as i know it will have been asked a million times already. just i dont want to go trawling through 15 pages looking for the answer,

My battery died earlier, changed it and had the problem of all 3 not working. i did the fix (which i know works in most cases as i had to do it on my older saxo and it worked then) but after trying the fix i still have no joy, the battery light is on all the time, do you think its the alternator that needs replacing?

The first thing you need when messing with any electrics is a multi meter. Start the car, test voltage, If its 11-12v then the alternator can't be working, if it is 13-14v then the alternator is working and your problem is else where.

hey guys kinda have a similar prob but i have a 2001 forte 1.1 i dont have power steering tho but my blowers and rear screen stopped working the other day bloody typical in this weather but the matrix seems to be ok when driving i can feel heat from the vents and the screen starts to demist but no blowers or heating when not moving very annoying does anyone think this method will solve my prob also my fuse blows when i switch my rear fogs on but i suspect this might just be a bulb. thanks guys.

peace out

P.S. the lack of power steering is a little dangerous on this ice too haha, and the lack of heaters = FUCKING COLD
