sorry if this isnt in perfect order but its hard condensing over a years worth of updates into one.
at some point i'd also fitted some gti 6 calipers as i wasnt happy wit hthe 266 jobbies.
now back to the hard shoulder.
after taking the box off and replacing my crank seal tho there was nothing wrong with it in the end and fitting a clutch we got the car running but there was an untraceable oil leak that was making my drive a rightmess, i'm talking puddles a foot accross so something had to be done. i bought a gti engine with a supposed 90k for 140 quid and planned to rebuild it.
the car was loosing oil but still pulling like a train and one day on the way home from work one of the heater matrix pipes i'd bodged together with a joiner gave up on me and i lost all my coolant whilst gunning it. i didnt realise at first as there was no sudden increase in temps.
i got the car home in a right state and left the hose pipe spraying onto tghe rad thinking i'd broke the fan later i disocvered the split pipe. so after replacing the pipe and trying to start the car one it'd cooled the starter screamed al mighty death and that was it as far as we were concerned, engine seized game over!
this was a kick up the arse to say theleast so it was learn to build an engine time.
mistake number........ well not number one thats for sure, i did my best to get it all right, bought any tools i needed, new shels for the mains and big ends, new crank seals, new water pipes i spent a fortune, since the engine died a death i've put knocking on for a grand into the car, genuine drive shafts, the works.
i got the engine built up and it looked like this
then while i was waiting on bits i took the beam off and whacked in some polyrace bushes, new rear calipers, bias valve and new lines.
when the time came to start the car, it started fine, ran for just over a min, died and that was it. starter couldnt turn it, bumpstarting it couldnt turn the engine. turns out the rings were too big and it would seem that the shells were too tight. gutted. so i decided i could do two things, sit and cry about it or crack on and sort it, been short of cas another engine was out the question so i decided not to take the 1.4 out of the furio on my drive but to put the old bottom end on with the new head and amazingly after a bit of faffing it runs. not driven it yet as i'm waiting on some rear brake lines from swapmy. so we'll see how it holds up.
now not been one to go right thats it lets enjoy it, ive been planning more stuff and that brings me to
home made poly carb rear window! made it today with my new jigsaw i'm pretty chuffed with it but i plan to put a vent in it to duct air into the cabin as it gets too stuffy for my liking.
also i decided that i was bored of having a 106 with a saxo dash and it was getting replaced, with...... a roll cage bar! like the rs tuning clio and i'll make a neat box to cover the heater box and controls and stuff.
now as i cant afford a digital dash and i dont let stuff like funds hold me back i took some digital vtr dials and modified them, not just wiht plasma dials which were already there but by modifying the shroud
thats gonna be the total thickness of the dial unit and i've started making a polycarb cover for the front too
dont worry its just rested in place its not finished yet but sunday dinner was a calling.
thats about it for now i might add more pics in a bit but enjoy.
