Default Clutch/Gearbox problem

I picked up a cheap mk2 vtr a few days ago and I after driving around town today I noticed that when driving and the car is in gear with little or no throttle its very very jerky. I don't think its the way I'm driving, whats likely to be causing this?

The gear change is awful as well, I have seen a few guides to remove play on here that I'm going to have a go at but its really bad! Also if I let the clutch out faster it sometimes makes a knock.

Sloppy gearchange is worn linkeage, plenty of how 2's on here that ive found to change em. As for 'jerky' driving, its difficult to diagnose on a forum. Could be a number of things, fuel related, ignition related, etc. The knocking could indicate a worn mount somewhere, engine or gearbox possibly?

Yeah Im going to work through that when I can afford to but I have no history so belts, engine & box oil plus all the filters first haha

Its literally only when driving slowly in first second and third when the car is rolling along in gear and I use a tiny amount of throttle to keep it going, I'll probably ask the garage to take a look when I get the belts done. Cheers
