Default Sennheiser Headphones

Just wondering if any of you guys on here have owned any before? Got my birthday and xmas this month so been thinking about getting some decent headphones. There's just too many to choose from on their website though!

Looking to spend no more than say 250/300 £ , and would prefer ones that cover the ears.

I listen to most genres of music tbh so they need to be good all rounders really.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

We have them at uni. Are good, seem like they are as good/level to others i have used.
£300 on headphones is a lot, you ought to be able to buy some pretty awesome ones for that.

I would say fight the brand and avoid dre beats, they are very good despite what forum bandits say, but there are better for the money.

Because they are good, they are light, look decent, are of a good enough to quality to survive being thrown around in a bag full of other crap and the sound quality is good. There are just better/as good headphone for less or the same. You pay a lot for the brand.

beats are overhyped shit and will go through batteries like no tomorrow. I love to watch all the fashion geeks walking around with fake ones on the ears.

I had a few sennheisers, they're great overall though a bit thin in the lower midrange, and that gives the impression of slightly loud bass depending on models. The circumaural models are extremely comfy, awesome for watching movies and playing games for hours without feeling any discomfort. They're all light and suitably padded.

If you want some real good allrounders, get some sonys mdr 7506. Sennheisers HD-25s are also great but smaller drivers mean they sit on the ear rather than around it, not as comfortable.

Also watch out for models that have this design:

Over the years, they might brake around the adjustment hinges if you don't treat them carefully, they need to be treated like babies all the time. Otherwise it's uber comfort.

Not everyone is an audiophile insistent on a true - flat frequency response. Some people enjoy over accentuated bass and sharp highs.

Have a read into the Audio Technica M50's.

They are one of, if not the, best headphone in that price category - if you're looking for accuracy and using them in some sort of creative process.

If you're looking for something bassy and accentuated then your beats " might " work for you.

However, please please don't buy based on internet reviews. Demo some out in shops. Especially some AKG ( closed back ) models. They will surprise you.

from the reviews ive seen, beats seem to be too bassy and over rated and a bit more of a fashion accessory

If the dude wants that and wants to spend his money on Beats then fine go for it.

But you will get the same, if not better quality for the same or a lower price.

ATH-M50 ( Audio Technica )

HD25's - Senny's

Beats - if you want that EQ'd coloured sound - not great for music production.

Also AKG is a brand i rate very highly. Even their 40 quid stuff is great.

Cheers for the responses guys. I know ive put 250-300 but thats my absolute limit, not meaning im only gunna buy expensive ones. I dont like beats, several mates of mine have them and ive tried them and they didnt sound anything special, so i can agree with some of the online reviews ive seen.
Im not after ones with thumping bass either as that seems to normally affects mids and highs.
Been looking at the sennheiser momentums and they have had great reviews so far. They sell them in john lewis so i think im gunna go check them out tomorrow and see if i can test any on display.

Yeah, went to john lewis today so see the sennheiser momentums but they only had the smaller on ear ones rather than the over ear ones im interested in so didn't get a chance to see how they sound. They didn't really have any other ones there on display other than the bose QC 15's but they werent working
Gunna have a look into these ATH M50's too.

I guess I can always just buy a pair see how they are and take them back if im not happy with them.

Beware of some shops that have funny return policies on headphones, because of health concerns. You can get momentums on amazon delivered free to your door.

That said, when you buy brand new headphones, they won't have been broken in yet and ill need a few days before settling and giving full potential.

You didn't miss much, bose is also overpriced for what it is.

My brother got me a set of beyerdynamic DT770 and I love them!

They sound really good, not too bassy but at the same time they don't sound shit when you have the music really quiet. The other important thing is they are extremely comfortable.

Just to throw my opinion in the ring here. I bought Beats Mixers. I still think i made the right choice.

I tried the Seinheherherejreasess HD25's and a pair of BOSE things and couple of others. To my ears and my music tastes the Mixers performed how I wanted.

A couple of points to add:

Beats since they have stopped working with Monster have had increasingly better reviews.
I got the Mixers for ~£180 duty free, I dont wear them outside of the house so were not a fashion accessory for me. In fact I dress like a fucking plum and have no fashion sense.
I have poor hearing and it may just be that the over emphasise on some frequencies on the beats just happen to suit my gash ears more than the others.

I am not in anyway saying the beats are "good" or better than any other far more well thought after brands. The beats suited my shitty ears and shitty music.
