Vtr s project thread.
Had the Saxo around two month now and thought I'd start a little progress thread.
I live in middlesbrough and went all the way down to Cambridge to pick the car up thinking it was a good deal at the price.
It already had the vts conversion that I was going to do anyway.
I was told it had Kent cams and a remap..... Bullshit to say the least.
However it is running a s1 rallye gearbox.
And being a typical French car it's had a massive amount of problems.
So far I've replaced all broken parts with new.
Alternator, driveshafts, fuel lines, dampers.
Mods- rally design coilover conversion on pugsport dampers
Saxsport
Vts (winter) wheels
I'm waiting on solid top mounts, 4-2-1, vts radiator and fan as it doesn't have one.
I bought a full vtr spare body kit and this is just about ready to come back from the body shop
Bumper has fogs, tow hole, plate recess smoothed, rear has tow hole smoother, side trims have Saxo vtr badge smoother then all texture has been flatted and smoothed.
I have some bbs wheels coming aswell.
Then the rest of the car is getting resprayed either before or after Christmas.
I'm currently in the process of sourcing parts for a forged engine, I have a hybrid gt17 in the garage good for around 180-200bhp, however I'm looking into the concept of tfsi.
As this us a dayly runner I have to buy the majority of parts and then switch them over as a full unit, so the car is not off the road longer than a weekend.
I'm also just creating a mould of 106 mirrors so that I can make some carbon ones.
I have a few more plans, interior wise etc but they along with the engine will be next year.
I'll get a photo of the car now and I'll post some more up as it progresses.
Let me know what you guys think.
Kirk.

Doesn't sound like you had a good start! Glad you've fixed the problems!

Thought I'd update as I haven't in a while, basically after everyone on the euro 'hype' I thought I'd change how the car is going to look, I've sourced a set of oz f1's currently getting painted in anthracite.
I now have leather 106 gti interior, really good condition, with momo 280 steering wheel.
Today I have oil lines made up from the turbo.
I also rang at speed about the modification to conrods that need doing when tuning arp bolts.
Spare engine was stripped down last week, head has been ported polished and gas flowed, also put through the dishwasher a few times to clean it (parents were not happy!)
Turbo manifold has been made up and a few other parts sourced. I will upload some pictures when I get chance.
