heat wrap holds the heat in the exhaust instead of getting the rest of the engine hotter. Get a carling can (or any can for that matter) and two jubilee clips for a short term fix Also check in the for sale section for a manifold, if no joy post in the wanted section! im sure somebody has one knocking about.

Heat wrap does reduce the life of the mainfold because it gets hotter as you said. They tend to crack.
And the number are the primaries, secondaries and collector numbers. So 4-2-1 would be 4 pipes into 2 pipes and finally to one pipe. 4-1 would be 4 primaries collecting straight into 1 pipe. If you google each you will see pictures. Speaks a thousand words

They give different pulse charateristics so will be better matched to the engine at different rpm ranges.
4-1's are generally suited to higher rpm

just go with standard 4 1 incase youre insurance company charge you more. good product i use, when cleaning is turtlewax back to black come in a can for a fiver spray. spray it on you black plactics. except pedels steering wheel gear knob bring everything up a strong black colour. cheap save exterior black bit looking faded. do mine every two weeks. mine and my partners vtr last about two months. do the interior once a month just rub over with a clean dish cloth cheap one you get in supermarket.

if you go to my stat on thread then look at my thread you see what i mean or my profile black the bumper and door strips a week before that pic was taken. cheaper than being painted black depends on how long you have the car for of cause.
