Really other than the xbox and ps3 games only (ie halo ect) theres not much diffrence other than you dont have to pay to play online like xbox and thats it really oh and if you do pay on ps3 you get free games every month and discounts off other games to.
Now some people will also say about the controllers as well yes ps3s are better due to thay come with a bluit in battery and it doesnt go flat every 5 mins but its most down to personal pefrence and ive also been a playstation guy every since ps1 first came out but now i find the xbox controller is better for me as i dont have small hands any more, the ps3 controller is more suited to kids and girls.
Lasty console game onlys
Now really this is an easy one ps3 has much much better games than xbox! now come on halo what a load of shit that is, forza lets be frank its nothing like the real thing! where as ps3 has great games like mgs4 (still the best looking game out) mag still the biggest mutiplayer game ever! and so on
so i say ps3 blows xbox out the door easly! also xbox has only just got them selfs upto date with what ps3 had from the start tv internet and so on....

I have both. Ps3 is a dust collector and only stays as a bluray player.

I've got both.
XBox for decent online play: COD, Halo and Mass Effect. The online servers are considerably better on the Xbox. You certainly get what you pay for.
PS3 is mainly for Blu rays these days. I'm still glad I have both though.

Im not a massive fan of either console, pc gaming is where it's at and most know that, but a few of the points you made are daft,
HDD space is expandable so irrelevant
Xbox pads ARE better, and rechargable (i used ps pads for 10+ years...)
Free online is, well, crap, get what you pay for and xbl is a better service.
Better picture quality? They both run at 1080p/i in game graphics may vary, but picture quality is the same.
It's like comparing pepsi and coke, x amount prefer one and x amount the other, but either way they are the same thing.

pc's are better but alot more costly.
yeah hdd is pointless saying about
xbox pads are better for grown-ups but there rechargable packs are shit ive had 3 in two years where as my ps3 controller is still perfect and ive had it since the ps3 came out.
Hmmmm where i am xbox live is shit and ps3 is mucher better, Ive got a 42mb line and i always have problems with xbox live either joining matchs or lagg where on my ps3 i have much less of both, ie xbox live on cod games i avrage 1 to 2 bars and on ps3 i 98% of the time have full bars..
Hmmmm i know ps3 is much better the picture is just so much shaper than xbox's hell i wouldnt even say there in the same legue xbox is closer to ps2 than ps3 90% of the time it just looks dull and faded... (there both on the same tv and both with hdmi cables and both on the same settings)
lastly coke and pesi are the same just coke is new and fresh where pesi is flat and old...

I can't play mgs, wipeout, God of war and GT5 on xbox and couldn't care less about halo. Or can't watch my alien anthology for that matter. Or even play me old beloved ps1 games. And I didn't want to have to pay extra (again) for a battery pack that's gonna die on me every 10 minutes, ending up having to plug it on a proprietary cable that's about the length of a spaghetti.

I found the picture quality much more crispy and more vivid colours on the playstation, by far. 1080p on xbox? Nothing to debate about, just facts: the xbox native display is in 720p and upscales at 1080. It's not true native HD, and is available only on post 2007 models because the older models didn't even have an HDMI out. Picture quality is the same? Try to play a bluray on xbox, make sure to report back on what happened. Then there's the sound, no DTS let alone DTS ES and HD on xbox and a crappy optical out that comes after you paid extra for the progressive, proprietary HD cable that's only 1.8 meters. I could have solved the problem by buying a newest box, but for the price to value ratio not to mention having then to put more top dollar for going online and having 9 year old campers practising their swear words. It's always about having to pay extra for each and every bit, I decided they could shove it. I want something that does it straight out of the box.

Not when you factor in the added cost (prices shot right up after them Vietnam floods), time, and effort (even though it's fairly simple, still not for everyone). Some may enjoy having more than enough HDD space from the start and not having to bother with irrelevant expansions if they want to proceed with installing another game. You'd rather have it and not need it instead of needing it and not have one. Also not sure if that voids your warranty or not.

Yeah then there's PC gaming Dr Pepper who's taking pepsico and friends all at once, please remind me how much it costs and how much electricity it sucks. Or isn't it the same thing. Tip: I should know, I have a few
Whenever I see a console thread, there's always a Mr. Imapeecee popping up and telling everyone this is where it's at because innit. And I'm the daft one... Remind me what the initial subject was about? Oh that's right, playstations.

I am really shocked at people saying the PS3 has better graphics. I guess the best place to start is to just have a look http://uk.gamespot.com/features/xbox...rison-6162742/
From a technical standpoint the Xbox 360 has a more versatile and much more powerful graphics-processing unit. The Xbox is capable of handling larger more detail textures and still retain full environmental effects. The PS3 is a fare more limited system in this respect. This is why many games on the Xbox 360 have added effects and more detail that is lacking on the PS3 port of the game.
As for 1080p this is true that the PS3 can display 1080p. But it is also true that many games still do not operate at true 1080p. Even the ones that do normally lack the in game content to fully utilize this. Its also true the video output stage in the Xbox 360's GPU has a dedicated hardware scaler unit that doesn't use up any other of the GPU capacity. It's inherited from the Xilleon architecture ATI developed. The GPU also has a hardware overlay pipeline that's used for notifications. The hardware scaler, the original ANA TV encoder, and HANA were designed to handle 1080p from the outset. The 360 can display true 1080p.
From my experience many games look a lot better on the Xbox 360 and this is unsurprising as its easier to program have the advanced graphics power. However the raw processing power of the PS3 and its larger media can allow some games to look better on it. It really depends on the game to what is best
