such a good choice fitting morrete head lights. they look gorgeous on a 106. going black or colour coding?? also the cold air feed is a good option to consider with these lights. especially as this is a track car.
well i had an issue mounting headlights due to what previous owner has done with the car, morettes will solve this.

also, ive got side lights working, but when i select dipped beam main beam comes on and when main beam selected dip comes on?

oh and ive got no hazards or indicators either?

any ideas?

not much progress over the last few weeks, but tonight i fitted drivers side polycarbonate window, fitted front brake lines, refitted wiper mechanism and wipers and did some general tidying up.

Exhaust is blowing, so will need to nip the clamp up and use some more exhaust paste, then either tomorrow night or probably sunday ill take it for a drive

Also found the cause of a small coolant leak ive been looking for, on the turbo water return i could see a small leak. removing and checking the hose it had a small split in the end just before where ive been using a jubilee clip to tighten it up, so cut the hose down and refitted - now all good

this is what caused the leak:

Well i thought that the split in the hose above had caused the coolant leak on the turbo return......

however, i changed re-fitted the turbo return hose after cutting that section out, and still leaking!! So i replaced the turbo return hose for a length of new hose, refitted and still leaking!!!

When the engine is running, if im under the car looking up at the turbo return, i can see it leaking dow the hose!! The thread isnt that great on the banjo bolt that locates into the turbo, i've cleaned it up and its tightened up ok.

Im out of ideas, could there be a crack in the turbo which is leaking around the area of the return? think im going to have to take the turbo off again to check?!

was hoping to drive it into work tomorrow too!!

no mate, same copper washer, looks ok. you think that will solve the problem?

there is a fairly large leak there so not sure if that would be the problem, i'll see if i have another copper washer here....

as above try a fresh copper washer first mate, coppers very soft so when tighten down the change shape to creat a gaskit as such, just try a new once lot easyer/cheaper then removing whole turbo

Thanks lads, water leak on the return now sorted thanks to 2 new copper washers.

However, having moved the car under it's own power and a little spin, it has a misfire and smokes from the exhaust under revs. Removed the plugs and they are wet with oil. Could this be valve stem oil seals? Piston rings?

Have a spare head so may put that on and see what happens?!

could be piston rings..stem seals or even the turbo

take one of your boost pipes off..one nearest TB..that should possibly rule out if its the turbo

Cheers mate, i fitted a different coil pack earlier and a new set of plugs, have a video...... the misfire has gone now, but dont know if thats just because the plugs etc are new. is this excessive smoke?

please excuse the mess, in the middle of re-doing and cleaning the garage out!!

was it cold? it does look blue which would suggest oil.. also looks to increase when revved but its hard to tell from a vid.

you sure the turbo is ok?

sounds good though

keep an eye on it.. and your oil level, that does look quite excessive...but looks to clear from idle as you rev it..but still chuff out when its revving

EDIT_ hw long has it been like that? how many times you drovbe it and this has happened?

might just be oil in the system/turbo/engine from fucking about mate

if it clears hey ho...if not youve got another engine there..but still check make sure its not the turbo

as it probs got more chance of being that than anything else imo..doent need to have play to have a dodgey seal

If its been sat for a while, then id suggest the stem seals are failing, this happened to mine m8,
If u take the manifold off and look at the valve stems them selves, if there wet with oil theres ur answer. Just an idea m8

This was my original way of thinking....

Did you just replace your stem seals? I'm thinking I may just fit a new head, maybe a new engine.
