Publicity, alot more people who dont usually talk about consoles would have been because it was big news. If people are talking about the X1 over the PS4 people who dont fully know the ins and outs of it, will go with the masses.

for me even tho I love my xbox, xboxone does nothing for me except think how greddy Microsoft have now got. seems the main thing they want to show is that it plays tv on your tv yawn, far as looks goes I think it fits in nicer with other things like dvd players and such, but I cant justify spending £500 on a new console that still is only gonna be used to play games for a few months of they year.
plus for the price tag of the games released I would consider more buying one if games released at more reasonable prices. not being funny but half of uk is struggling to have a well paid job to enjoy decent food let alone buggering us more for over priced games.

personally I;m waiting till a lot cheaper and had enough of gta5 then poss buy one?

So Microsoft and Sony should spec down their consoles, to make them cheaper for poor people?

course not but when dvds where made it was claimed they cost like 20p to make so the 9.99 general price profit is 9.80 so would work same for consoles. make them an affordable price.
look at ps2 that came out at like 300-400 or something then after a few months falls down to like 100-150.
same with most consoles prices if they came out at a more reasonable price that the majority of the public would buy them thus selling more consoles same with the games. at the prices its released at there's prob a lot people like myself who are in shit paid jobs have family's and cant afford the initial out lay of £500 for a console and £100 for two games. so yea I think Microsoft and sony kinda price themselves to high cos their greedy.

PS2 was £299 when brand spanking new. I remember it and I still have mine and its receipt somewhere.

PS2 took a lot more than a few months to drop that much, more like 10-12 months.

Ms confirms there will be no headset bundled in with the One. Youll need to buy one separately!

I really don't know what to do at this point.

I'm split 3 ways (no pun intended) do I

(A) Keep my 360 and end up being the only one online.
(B) Buy an Xbox One and stick to the norm
(C) Buy a PS3 to break from the norm

Only problem being that the people I talk to on Live will no doubt be getting the Xbox One.

Yes a physical bit of media might cost 20p to make. What about the all the costs that sit with filling that bit of media with content? From actual production costs to the team of thousands who go into making the game, buildings, rents, rates, coffee etc...

If you say made coffee tables for a living and the coffee table cost you £11 in raw materials to make, by your theory, you could only sell this for £11??

Brettles, going by the length of time people were still playing the xbox online after the 360 came ouy, there will be tons of people still on live with 360s - especially as the userbase is WAY bigger than the xbox had.

With Microsoft, not sure if this is true, but I'm guessing they will have to pay Sony something for the Bluray drive.. Sony made a massive loss on every PS3 sold, they clawed profit back through bluray disks been sold, and earning money back.. So you can't really say they are greedy...

Think of the millions upon million that went into creating the consoles.. Disks may be 20p or whatever, but think how many years, and how many people have been paid to create a game, it doesn't just appear..

You can't begrudge anyone for wanting to make a profit..

You can go on COD4, and there are still thousands of people playing it! Loads will stick with the 360, just probably won't be the same skill of gamer playing, and most people who play properly, will go for the new console!

I see your point about not getting the head set but the quality of the older headsets was awful! I use turtle Beach X12 headphones and they are a million times better.

I get what you mean but my point is why make something so pricey in first place bring it out at a sensible price same as games like xbox does now and surely they;d sell a whole lot more on release as it would appeal to a wider audience not just the richer side of the market .
where as before I lived at parents and had rather well paid jobs where I could prev afford such expensive items now I have morguage, car, baby on way I can barely afford nice things. so it would have been nice to release at a sensible cheaper price like the 360 is now so I might have option of affording one, where as now I see the price and price of games and think bollocks i'll stick with 360.

and also I did used to make coffee tables for a living. and the mark up on them was minimal to keep up with all the others selling same thing for cheap prices had to keep up with the market

People will still buy them at the price they want so why would they sell it for cheaper... They wouldn't be any better off as a company if they sold them any less
