This may seem a stupid question, but how can you measure a speed bump? They are like humps so how would you measure the highest part?
Other than that, theres some huuuge f*ckers near me.

I dont agree with speedbumps tbh, modified cars are only a small number of the cars that speed & the bumps only really force us to slow down to a crawl (or find an alternative route!!).
Driving around in my mums Zafira i could do any speed i wanted and go straight over the bumps without even noticing they are there. And you see all these Beamers, audis etc driving over them with no problems.
Speedbumps are just another hazard on the road!

ok so you have a road and you want it removed because you go down it often and its to high, ok so you want it lower so its still there to slow you down but, whats the point i mena you send a letter away, a month later you get a reply, a month later they start the job, a month after that its finished, so what 304 months for a speed bump to be lowered, a month for it to be lowered 9there lazy fuckers) so you moaning its to high so you would rather not drive down that road for a month then? no point tbh!

good find, i agree about speed bumps they do their job but when it forces you to take an alternative route because it is too high and could cause damage (lower strut brace) is rediculous.

i would easily argue that a speed bump was too high and wait for it to be lowered meaning i could then be able to use that road for many years after wards.

I wasnt saying that we should leave them high, as we shouldnt because i know alot of members here put alot of time effort and money into there cars, and the police like to do us for any illegal parts, i would happily like to do the government for ilegal hight speed bumps, yeah they should be lowered, but i mean like mentioned people in bigger cars and stuff still take no notice of them so are they actually doing anything? i know there are certain ones like oustide schools which i agree with totally but others im not sure about

you said in your other post 'no point tbh'
i think there is a good point.
understand what you say, just a shame people think they need a 4x4 to pick the kids up, or go shopping etc when they live in towns and cities.

but like you say about the 4x4's all seams a little far fetched

i hate speed bumps in shopping car parks the worst coz there about 30cm long but high as fook so u cant get ya back wheels on to give the extra lift to stop the car hitting it, and they should be made of rubber too not tarmac

Basic trigonometry my friends!
I like speed bumps anyway. The speed bumps/humps/islands around here are the smoothest bits of road. The bits of road around west yorksire that don't have speed bumps have 3 ft deep pot holes instead

Well we have one at a college and it is massive tbf!! even with no bodykits or splitters or lowering it still nearlly scuffs your downpipes... But only thing is, is thats it's on privately owned land and i think it doesn't apply to this... however there is an alternate route round the college it's just that this speed bump is on the main entrance... pretty shit tbf!!

ok so dont look like a goon and just measure up to your splitter! and then how much 10cm is if its above or below, for me if i scrape its 10cm! so its easy and its quite obvious if its a big difference, it only took 2 months for it to be lowered and now the route is fine, they also proved all these "beamers and audis" the average driver pays three hundred and something pounds a year on the damage they do to cars, (e.g premature shock absorber failure) and when u do it daily you begin to notice it, also if its a longer other route (i could not go down this road) it uses more petrol doing it twice a day and so on and so on.... i see both sides but if its obviously huge then send a lettering saying its very large and u wan it checked, they must oblige like if someone says oh the number plate ****** has a kilo of heroin police can pull you and check if its been called in so u dont have to look a prat!

theres a metal one at a shopping centre in belfast near me, and i went over it in my old 106 gti and literally took my side skirt off!!
was fucking fuming, but again i had a car load! and mine was lowered 80mm-ish
but if you went to the road service people and winged at them about that....they could take a measuring tape to your car and find it might not be within the legal limits of a road worthy car...wel we have designated m.o.t centres in northern ireland, and they are dead strict!
what they have began to do in northern ireland is:
if the police stop you in a check point, and have belief that you car is not road worthy ie. lowered beyond belief, cut springs, exhausts that exceed emissions laws and noise pollution laws etc etc etc.........they immediately escort you, to the nearest m.o.t centre, and they do an "on the spot" mot
if it passes, then your free to go ... but if not, they remove the vehicle off the road, you have to get the bits sorted that arent road worthy, though firstly...get a transporter (as they wont let you drive it home) and you have to get a lift home.
in one particular weekend, out of 63 vehicles stopped in a certain town...40 of them where removed off the road...and only 9 where standard cars, with no mods

the way the police here see a car road legal to the naked eye, is if its standard or you dont look dodgy lmao
say i drove my vts and they didnt like the look of me...they would escort me to the mot centre
but if it was the my vts and i had a wee kid in a booster seat and a bird beside me they might let me drive on!
so personally i think it to tackle modified cars and the driver, if they look out of place lol
