Jp4 head ( or maybe just covers?) on a j4 bottom end?,
No forced induction, just a simple induction kit.
Simple breathing mods.
ECU looks like a standard one not a standalone.
So at the most its going to be a cammed vts, running around 155bhp.
Not exactly what i would class as a sleeper.
You got any links to the other saxos you've owned?
The car does look very smart btw. Just not what i'd class as a sleeper

TU5 JP4 Engine
GMC manifold / BTB centre / magnex box
CAT cams
Omega pistons
Peugeot Sport conrods
BE4 Gearbox, custom driveshafts
GMC piggyback mgmt
Group A / custom engine mounts
Quaife Differential
Rose jointed wishbones & eccentric top mounts
Most work carried out by GMC.
All in pretty standard vtr shell.
Think what you like regarding the definition of a sleeper.
Rest of my pictures are across on SSC from a few years back.

Which catcams?
Are the conrods and pistons not abit of a 'waste' without throttlebodies, crazy cams, or forced induction?
If you pull up next to someone in a modified VTR they're going to know the engine isn't standard.
If you pull up next to someone in a standard 1.1 desire the last thing they're going to think is you're running 155 horses with a tastey gearbox. Thats my idea and pretty much everyone elses idea of a sleeper.
Its a nice spec, just not a sleeper.

exactly,
no-one listens when a girl says it
a sleeper to me is a 1.1 with a 16v in possibly cammed and tb'ed
that makes you go wonder whats in that when it pulls away from you, yours just looks standardish with a 8 more v's to me

Surely a sleeper is a lesser model having more power than would be expected. Therefore implying that this guy's is/was a sleeper
Just that it could have been MORE of a sleeper had it been in an even lesser shell.

Matter of opinion mate.
Fair enough its not the archetypal MG Maestro with a redtop, but it certainly raised many an eyebrow.
Personally, it never got ragged about at traffic lights like you mentioned - but up at Crail and down at the Pod there were a few surprises.
Either way thanks for your input.

I can't recall mentioning ragging at traffic lights.
No problem, nice car. I'm off to work.
