Looks pretty similar to a 106/205 dash though I suppose in those days they all looked similar

If you want a highly modified Head ive just swapped the head off my s1600 engine as now in C2 and had to swap due to mounts. Top spec longman (when his reputation was very good) PM for full spec

I wish i could mate but funds are currently tight i hate to let good things go but i dont have the cash yet as its goin to custom cages shortly for the cage.
I have in the garage my dads old 1.6 k series s1600 engine which is 268bhp so im thinking of racing a standard ish engine to begin with and then getting that beast in and running it on a dog box etc, aslong as they will still let me log book the car that way which i am not sure if you can or not.

Today was the day ive been putting off for a while !!! All the cage around where the sun roof has needed cutting out so me and my dad have got it done today
All cut out !!!
All done and no buckling or anythin very happy !!!!!!
I will plate over it but not until the roll cage has been installed
I have started looking at the engine bay and work stripping stuff out of there that isnt needed. I have taken the whole bonnet release mechanism out as this wont be needed with the fibreglass bonnet. Also ive taken out the bracket that holds on the air box as that is heavy !!!!
How she currently sits
Next i need a 106 gti twin fan set up and work more on lightening the car up im happy with the car it still starts and runs first time and sounds sweet.

Do you think any of that sunroof surround has any structural importance to the roof. Its a job I have also been putting off.

No not one bit the roof is still strong i expected it to be verrrry wibbly wobbily but it wasnt, plus it doesnt matter if it takes a tiny bit away as the weld in cage will firm up more than anything it was easy to do to be honest but glad its done now get it done mate.
Use the spot dril on the corner back brackets first mate

Good to see your hard work is paying off. You are at the same stage as me at the moment. I have had to keep the roof and glass in as the car is still outside until all mechanical is overhauled beam , engine , suspension . The wiring is were the main concentration is . The loom on mine is completely out of the car. I will be mounting the loom on a 8 x 6 MDF board so I can remove all wiring and add all addition aux wiring.

I have almost finished my wiring and the only reason i didnt do what you said is because i like to keep putting the battery back on and making sure everything i want to work still works.
What rallies / championship are you going to do ?
I a now starting on the mechanical side

I see your point with the battery. That is how I started to do it within the car. I was getting a lot of high resistance readings with the wiring to the crossover plug. I removed the n/s wing and found the harness insulation to be open and over the years water / dirt had corroded the wiring. Rather than patch the wiring which could cause another issue I removed the loom itself and will replace the wires along the full length.
As regards the rallying I am actively competing on rallies as a navigator doing the BTRDA Forest Championship. November is busy for me with rallies as I am doing the Tempest , Rally GB , Premier and the Grizedale Stages , so I cant see much time being spent on the car. I am doing this project for myself and my daughter, with only a few events per year planned.
I haven't got the budget to go balls out on this car and will concentrate on safety , and if it needs doing it will be done ,if it doesn't warrant the expense on individual things then I wont.

That is the best plan my car is having the best cage i can afford a full custom cages weld in s1600 cage as if i go of i want to be safe. Nice im sticking to tarmac to start with to compete with my dad who has raced for 29 years i cannot wait to get out on stage but i want to build it properally and it will be ready when its ready.

Today i have spent the day on the car and got a fair bit done
Started by taking the bumper off which was nice and easy
Ohhhhh the lights were a nightmare !!!! All the threads behind them moved on every single nut so that was a proper ballache so i had to hold the back whilst undoing the front i got them all this was except 1 which i ended up grinding off
Next i started to get all the mud and gunk from inside the wheel arch
Before
After
And then i found this beauty it was only a tiny hole but all around it was rotten butits no big problem at all, under the ecu other side is fine. It will be a nice and sasy plate.
I then cleaned all the front up and im very please with the progress and the car
