Saxo Vts would be the right choice for you, you cant go much faster for the money
unless you want a redtop corsa/nova which generally handle dogshit until you spend quite a bit of money on the handling
Ek4 VTI would be mental on insurance, atleast they used to be when I had my VTS, the others arent worth getting you'd be much better off with a vts, pay the extra insurance I assure you they're worth it
You can make one as fast as that S1 16v Rallye I had for relatively little money (£3-400)

Thanks for the advice chris.
I looked at redtops but only corsa B's are affordable and i just cant stand how ugly they are, much prefer nova's
VTS's are very good value for money and im not ruling them out but i might consider if nothing else comes up.
Cheers

I'm guessing your only around 19-20? For insurance £ per speed you're best bet is definately the saxo vts
Stick with the french, they're worth it to get you through your first few years of driving especially when you get to show up the 'big boys' in their more expensive machinary

Get a VTS, save the Jap until you have decent amount of money, modifying saxo's are relativity cheap, the Jap's can cost a bomb.

They can but you would be surprised common mods are no more expensive than saxo's
