Should be good when its done! are you planning on building up fibregalss from the wood and cutting holes in the wood for magnets to sit through?
|
both pics are ms paint the camera couldnt pick up the lines on the board the 2nd pic is the best place i could of put the 6th n 7th coaxs any other place they where in the way
not 100% sure what the plan is yet once i get a set of the speakers im gonna cut holes in the wood and door skin to make them sit in as far as pos without hitting the window then once there all in il mount them to a 2nd board to level them all off

thanks mikey will make sure you get a listen at the exeter meet
well was planing on doing lots of work today but my goodies didnt turn up untill half 4 and its gone dark so will get a full days work tomorrow got the 8" coaxs and some tweeters in the post today they look massiv in person gonna look sweet once ive got all 5 in each door.
(1" tweeter my old 6.5" and the new mids)

also got this off a mate will be hooked up to my new headunit and my side and rear screens not sure where to put it tho i can put in above the number plate so i can use it for parking (not that i have trouble parking) i can aim it out of the boot so i can keep an eye on people looking at my boot while im in the car demoing or put it at the back of the tunnel so i got tunnel cam (not sure how long it would last in there tho) you lot got any ideas?

Door builds look good so far bud !
Question... are you mounting the speakers directly to the mdf board in the pictures? or are you building off from that like some sort of pods?
Only reason I ask is that behind the inner door skin there isnt that much room for speakers before you hit the glass iirc, also if you go through the inner skin what are you going to use to stop water dripping on the back of the speakers and nackering them out?
Im intreagued as I had loads of water on the back of my door speakers without waterproofing and there wasnt much room in there to work with.
I love the stuff you do sometimes, always makes me think 'how is he gonna overcome that bit/problem'
keepup the good work! hopefully see it again soon!

thanks mate thos problems already been thought of gonna get angle grinder out tomorrow going to make 3 cuts then fold the skin back the mags only go a cm so the skin i fold back will only go back a little and this will protect the speakers from water.
wanted to fit the speakers deeper into the door plenty of space from the inner skin and the window but where the top one is the rod for the door handle goes so cant push that speaker back as far as the rest so have to being the bottom ones out to match. they are going to come out about 2" from the 1st mdf board this will give me a nice little arm rest and give me place to put a door handle
hopefuly have one maybe both in and working by sw meet. ur gonna like another idea ive got dual headunits

Looking good liam!
Wouldn't worry about losing the weight that helps the door close though....

thanks mate yeah think ive added enough weight to get rid of the factory weight lol
had a listen last night and there isnt much differance between the jbl's n jl's the jbls are just as load as the jl's and there only getting 70rms each wen the jl where getting 140 each. the jbl's have brought the sound stage down a little but once ive got my jbl tweeters in that will bring it back up. SQ wise the jbls aint bad there very clear they dont have the warmness the jl's have but that could be down to not having the tweeters in
very exited to see what it sounds like once all ten are in hopefully getting the other 4 sets next week

thanks mate same the jl's are 10X the price but are they 10X the better lol
clearence between the seat and and speaker is about 5mm. clearence between the mags and door rod is about 15mm give or take so the speakers will be going into the doors a little more. going to try get both doors to the level the drivers is so then i can start making them look fancy got a few ideas need to find some 10mm frosted perspex 1st tho but u will love what im doing
