Dunno how it drives cos i'm not putting it back on the road till i'm happy with the engine wiring as when it dies it's not very safe to be stopping in the middle of the road! Plus it's pissing with rain out, vtr wheels suck dong, brakes i haven't done etc etc.
I don't think i'll be driving it much till i do road testing pre ring tbh, boohoo.
My same S2 box, think xsi and S1 rallye are too short, having driven cars with both.

good job ive got a s2 box then
i found at llandow it was much more useful, with the vts box on the main straight i was just getting to the limiter in 3rd, by the time id changed to 4th it was time to brake, with the s2 box i could chuck it in 4th and give it some welly before braking, much more user friendly... better order my diff soon

Chop chop
Make sure your car is all ok for the ring and you have dosh for it, no use having an awesome spec car but not being able to use it, that's what i learnt from my vts anyway lol

Engine doesn't matter, even with 200bhp the 911 turbos, gt3s, M3s etc will still be far faster, it's all about cornering speeds there, carrying your speed init.

Just keep the engine as it is now then Paul, and get the chassis and suspension side of things sorted, enjoy the summer how she is then you've got plenty of time to rebuild the engine over the winter
I found i was changing into 4th about half way along the main straight at Llandow with vts box Lol

Corner speeds is where its at. Knowing how to handle the car helps too. £1k on suspension/brake mods is worth at at least £2k engine mods.
Just a shame the corners at the ring is where you're most likely to bin it. And there's not exactly much run off - so don't push too hard.
Looking good Alex! Has Mankee got that many boxes that he's labelling them all now? lol

Mankee had a few boxes on the go at the time, so he labelled them lol
More grip and better brakes mean you're less likely to bin it though, whereas more power with current setup IMO would make it easier to stack.

Spot on advice i reckon mate...
Now my interior is almost sorted minus a cage and another set of buckets i can move onto sorting out my suspension and breaks properly before i really crack on with a decent engine setup
What master cylinder would you recommend for my VTS if i ran say a 266 or 283mm setup?
Also how hard are diff's to fit and how much for a good one?
Realising how much i still need to do with my setup before im happy

red whos tom? have you got a link to his car and ill se if i can tell you why.
dont forget that peak power doesnt mean that much, its how quick the car produces its power and for how long (for a road car) for example if jp saxo has a very good low down and midrange power curve and is put against someone with more bhp with a smaller power band and normal ratio gearbox, then jp's car would be quicker as it utilises all the power the cars making rather thean the high bhp car using all its power in say 1000rpm.

As long as your going sensibly. But ultimatly more grip / better brakes may mean that your carrying more speed when things to get out of shape, and you'll be carrying more speed closer to the corner when you start to brake.
As long as you drive within your limits - you should be fine, and cornering ability is much more important than power.

Red - Toms car is 155 @ fly, around 125@wheels, josh is almost 20bhp up on that. 142@wheels is about 170+ @ fly depending on gearbox losses.
My vts had a 23.8mm MC as standard, so i left it on with 4 pots, 266 ang 283mm setups, was fine. If it has a 22mm one then a gti6 one would be good but only necessary with gti6 brakes, the 206 gti180 brakes have same piston size as vts & 266mm so no need for bigger MC.
Diffs require a full gearbox apart session, i can do them but hate gearboxes and don't trust myself with them. It's about £600 for the diff and machnining, add some dosh for gearbox rebuild labour and parts, say £800 all in for a refreshed gearbox with quaife diff, if you supply the box!
Yup true stu. I've never been close to losing control on the ring, although without abs it might be a different story :o Remember drifting this car into the bus stop at llandow and round the chicane too after locking up into the corner lol

I'm not telling anyone about the rimmzzzzzzzzzz till they're done and fitted
Decided R888s are going on vts wheels, road tyres on chronos, strange combi i know but i won't feel safe with uber grippy tyres on track with spacers and longer bolts. Paranoia at it's best.
