Default Electric windows stopped working

Hi, I have a Citroen Saxo Desire 1.1 2002 3 door. Both windows were working fine. I had some welding done inside the front wheel arch drivers side. The battery was disconnected during welding and nothing inside the engine bay got hot. When I reconnected the battery both electric windows were no longer working. The fuses are ok. With the ignition on there is no power to either window switch (located in the central console behind the gear stick). Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks, Ian

If you have no power going to the switches I would say the wiring has broken or melted somewhere. Even with a small amount of welding the heat can travel along metal quite quickly. The only way you will know for certain is to get hold of a wiring diagram and work from the switches to the power supply/fuses.
I am not great at electrics but you could see if the switches work when off the car first and go from there.

Good luck!

Default Problem solved

Hi Henry,

Thank you for your response. I have solved it. The welding did not cause the problem, it was just a coincidence. It was the electric window relay which is a small, green, 4 pin relay located next to the bonnet release. I resoldered the coil wire back on to its pin.

Cheers,
Ian

It's good that you realized that your problem and welding were not related. Well done! I will know how to deal with such a problem if I have it. Thank you!
