Default Vectra C head unit wiring problems

I know its a long shot but has anyone on here replaced a vectra c head unit before? Its a 56 plate.

My mate got a new alpine double din unit but we can't get any power to it at all. And it's irritating us. Ive fitted headunits before but they've never been as complicated as this!!

We've got all the right connectors etc but no power. There's maybe something we should be doing but don't know. Fuses checked and no loose wired.

Anyway thanks for any help in advance!

Nope didn't try that. Isn't that just so it saves the stations/settings though? Shouldn't it work no matter which way around they are?

What model of headunit is it? Vauxhall normally require an ISO loom and it only swaps the feeds as described above.

Have you checked that you are actually getting power to the headunit? Have you checked that neither the car fuse or headunit fuse hasnt blown?

It's an Alpine unit, double din but not got a screen or DVD, just normal head unit. Its brand new.

Nope fuses are fine as we have the standard unit back in (although now it's temperamental) so there is power there.

We're on the way back to halfords now to have a do and see if they'll have a look without charging us £30!!

I'll swap the red and yellow wires around then when we get there but I would have thought we'd have power no matter which way around they are. It's completely dead!

Cheers

Sorted. Halfords wired it in without charge!

I think the live just needed wiring through to the fuse box in the engine bay.

Bloody new cars!!
