As far as i can see, joining the red wires or the brown wires will do the same thing, just further up. So yes.
Meanwhile, does anyone know what Amp rating the connector would need to be?
I see these in halfrauds:
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...egoryId_165626
But will an 8A connector just melt/combust? Anyone know?
Might be it's not big enough anyway, I've not looked at them in person yet. Just went on my lunch break, ignition wouldn't turn, then did and now I have the shitey trinity of faults.

Re: PAS, Heater fan , Rear demister Repair, with picture big guide in detail
What you are looking at getting is a bullet block connector

The in-line crimp connectors. Seems the easiest way, if they'll stand up to it.

No the bullet connector is the best and easiest way to do this as shown in first post

Same problem for me!
Just come accross this problem, i'll follow your guide tomorrow when i do it.
Just in case anyone doesn't know, the little coloured rubber connectors are actually called butt connectors.

PAS, Heater fan , Rear demister Repair, with picture big guide in detail
It's a bypass from the barrel which is now faulty this why you have got these 3 not working and by bypassing the barrel the current can complete it's circuit

Ive just had these three problems, and my battery light had come on too, is this normal?
This might also sound stupid, but do you do this bypass thing with the engine running or not?

it runs to the end of the ignition barrel all the looping does it complete the circuit so they still work , so it bypasses the bad connection of the ignition

Easy fix for power steering is to take a hammer to the metal part of it while the car is off then again while it's on sound stupid but works

Check this first!
Other faults can cause same symptoms, so check your alternator is giving 14v when engine running at battery terminals, so 14v at battery. 2. remove battery cable from alternator output and clean any corrosion. disconnecting battery beforehand and re connecting afterwards
