Getting fit for Army..
Start Basic Training on June 13th and wanna get myself nice and fit before I go In obviously!
Was thinking along the lines of:
Monday: 3 Mile Jog
Tuesday: Arms and Back - Pullups both styles and Pressups
Wednesday: 1.5 mile run - Fairly fast paced, about 10 minutes or so
Thursday: Stomach - Situps
Friday: 3 Mile Jog
What would you add to that? I can do about 15 Pullups now probably as I haven't done them for ages and about 30 Pressups maybe? So not sure on how many sets and of how many reps?

i can do about 30 - 50 pull ups. and im not the strongest guy in the world.
Where would you say you have most muscle power (keep it clean) top half arms lower half legs...
perhaps some swimming as it exercises all muscles

Upperbody I would say Is fairly good, Lower body Is not so good but hopefully Running will sort that out aswell as Cardio?
Swimming could also be a winner, I'm trying to get a routine together now which still gives me plenty of spare time..

Just to be curious, What Rgt. you gan in?
Your training sounds perfecto tbh, its what I do now round about, 2.5 / 3 mile run every other day, pull-ups, press-ups, sit-ups etc. As said above, swimming tbh is the only thing youre missing, a good half hour session with 15 mins treading water atleast twice a week and you should be fit before you know it.
Dont wanna sound a dick but try and do more than 30 press-ups lol, try a best effort in 2 mins, around 50-60.

And great, I'll get to It then.. I could do alot more than 30 pressups In 2 minutes stopping and starting - I can do 30 maybe 35 without stopping.

I'm joining army very soon aswell! and REME mechanic! ahaa
Seems to be what i'm doing right now! but since my cardio is terrible i'm only doing 1 and 2 mile runs till i get abit fitter.
And 30-50 pullups??? Someone telling porkies? are they the official army pullups?

Think I've got It..
So something like this would be a bit better?
Monday: 30 minute Jog
Tuesday: 3 x 10 Pullups, 3 x 15 Chinups, 3 x 30 Pressups - With breaks Inbetween.
Wednesday: Timed 1.5 Mile run
Thursday: 3 x 20 Situps, 3 x 30 Pressups, 30 minute swim
Friday: 30 minute Jog
Weekend off.
Sound better?

R.E.M.E. eh lol, sounds like you were going Infantry by your training regime, and not many can do 30-50 pullups Will, yes pressups but not body heaves / pullups lol.
How fast can you do your 1.5 miler then mayte ? iirc it must be about the 10min mark for Engineers?

I was going Infantry but changed to Reme..
Can do the 1.5 mile In 10:15mins.. Not great I know.

Ryyy: Thats what i was thinking when jinx said it! I can manage about 10-15 pullups but only about 6 proper army heaves!
My 1.5 mile is about 11:30mins so i gotta bit of training to do, but luckily only just started the whole process so few months till start basic training i imagine! you seem to be on the right track though buddy, keep it up! might even meet ya one day since ya only in ipswich

10:15 minutes is great dude, good time indeed. My best effort was 8:49 and done it twice now but since then ive been doing 9:10s and 20s lol and increasing the distance.
Good luck anyway matey.
Ps : Will he'll mean 30-50 pressups I'd imagine lol! I can only manage about 20 pullups.

There's Pre-Selection and Selection, passed both but have done f*ck all since and need to get my arse fit before I start training!

If i were you i'd up the training a bit. Here's what I was doing before RT in the RM:
Monday - AM: 3 Mile run, aiming to hit no slower than 9:30 on return 1.5 miles
PM: Circuit (Nasty as hell, PM me and I'll send you it)
Tuesday - AM: Rest/Swim
PM: Weights session concentrating on endurance
Wednesday - Same as Monday
Thursday - Rest day - some light core work or press ups thrown in
Friday - Same as Monday and Wednesday
Saturday - Full Rest day
Sunday - Long cross country run done at about 9/10 min mile pace to build up more endurance
Gimme a shout if you've got any more questions
