Default messy doriftu mx5 - I forgot about progress threads.

Well i've gone and bought myself a Eunos Roadster, after a constant barrage of peer pressure to go RWD.

It's pretty beat, but mechanically sound.
1993 Eunos Roadster. Born the same year as me
95k Miles. MOT and tax until the end of this year.
Loads of service history, passed its last mot with no advisories. It also had a massive service the beginning of this year, all oils filters and brake pads etc.

Has a mint soft top, no leaks.
Not a single bit of rust, can't even find any surface rust.
Brakes, engine and gearbox all feel awesome, minimal interior rattles which is weird for an mx5.
Even the air con works! I doubt it'll stay long though, who needs it when you can just take the roof off!

Has plenty of external 'discrepancies' shall we say. 20 years of car park dents and a scrape on the left. None of this bothers me as i'll be skidding in to gravel at Lydden Hill anyway.
It's also pretty faded in places.

Anyway I paid £675 for it so can't complain. I pick it up Sunday, here are 2 of the sellers pics.

Plans are to fix the drivers side window.
General tidy up, see if the paint will restore at all.
Get rid of that weird number plate plinth and de-badge it.
See how much the wheels clean up, may just do a bodge refurb.

Uprated HT leads, drilled air box with panel filter.
Weld diff.
Full custom exhaust.
MeisterR Coilovers.
Full custom rollcage with doorbars.
Need to get myself some side mounts so i can mount this-

That's about it. Oh yeah this is not my daily. My saxo will be up for sale soon so i can buy something boring like a polo/lupo.

Cheers.

Yeah it's not the sort of car i'd want to run daily. They're so cheap now, plus i'm still living at home, so thought i'd rinse the fact I can afford to run 2 cars for a bit lol.

That cheap! It is pretty beat up as i said, i'll put up better pictures when i get it home.
But mechanically its perfect, which is exactly what i was after.

Something that goes good, but i don't give a shit when its dragged sideways out of the kitty litter.

Can I ask why you're putting incredibly expensive coilies on it just to skid it? Get some ebay specials if you aren't really bothered about it.

It's not the mpg that bothers me. I work an hour away from home, i commute at peak times every day.
I want a car i can abuse, and not need to worry about getting to work the next morning.
This will be fully caged, and stripped out, running a welder. I don't fancy running it daily.

They wont be that expensive, I can get them directly from Jerrick and fitted for far less than cost price.
The car will be used for grip and skid days, plus i can't stand cheap coilovers, may aswell cut springs.

Good stuff grant. Looks very clean, mine was £400 but needed more work than this!
The air con has its uses, mainly in the winter when you come into the car wet and it starts to steam up. As the air con is a dehumidifier it does a great job of clearing the mist.

But yeah, weighs a ton and isn't that important.

The pictures are actually quite flattering lol, it does look like a 700 quid car.
I'm sure i can spend a day on it and get it looking alright though.

Cheers for that man, that's one of those things i'd not even think about lol! I'll wait and see how much it affects me.

I joined mx5nutz but haven't really posted much. My mate said they're not massively accommodating for people that are buying them to abuse, although some of his ways are questionable at the best of times lol.

Yehhhhh! I like it. Only bit I don't like is polos being boring?

I'm sure with a bit of hard work and the right products you'd probably get the paint looking ok. I say give it one days proper detail. Then never clean it again. lol

Haha sorry mate! You know what i mean though, just a normal car, no mods etc.
And i reckon it's worth a try, i can imagine the paint is pretty thin now though.
Will see how it goes.
