exhaust wrap. is it worth it?
hi guys
i was considering getting some heat wrap for my manifold on my boosted car. is it worth ir? i have already a coldside air filter relocation with a cold air feed. is it worth getting some heat wrap to cover my manifold

Keeps the heat in, I had some on my old car.
If you have a quality mani then do it.
Or just get it coated.

i didnt find any power diff if thats what you mean just takes some of the heat out the engine bay etc.. i ended up taking it off and coating it :-) looks better :-p

As said coating is the ideal option, not only aids gas flow but keeps engine bay temps down, which is obviously a good idea. Wrapping does a similar thing but not as efficiently. Depends how much money you want to spend. Personally if you're not wanting to spend a couple of hundred quid to get it coated, i'd wrap it if its off the car either way.

my air filter is sat on my coldside anyway so cant really see me needing it tbf

No tbh you probably don't need it but if the manifold's off the car i would do it anyway, every little helps and all that.

Manifolds are not designed with wrap in mind so performance gains are unlikely. Use it if you have engine ancillaries that are close to the exhaust and need protecting

Kam other than stopping sound in the cabin, can you explain why I saw a what I'd guess was still an N/A Honda dc2 wrapped all the way to te backbox a few years ago..?

I belivieve heat wrap to work very well to stop things melting. With turbo cars heat is your biggest enemy. I've heat wrapped all the exhaust componants that are too close to for comfort to other things.
From my experience heat wrap works much better at protecting things from heat than ceramic coating.
