Newman Cams Group Buy **POSTED - LATE ARRIVALS WILL BE SENT SEPERATELY NOW**
Righty Ho!!
I have been in contact with newman regarding some discount on cams for the vts/gti, as well, everyone likes money off and from reading recent threads, alot of people would like to get cams of one duration/spec or another.
The details i have so far are that -
VTS/Gti
£225 (including vat & postage)
1.4 & 1.6 8V
£105 plus VAT & Postage, so thats £135.13
CAM FOLLOWERS
25% off which ever you order, so prices are as follows -
hydraulic = £105.75 (excluding postage, but don't need this if ordering cams)
mechanical = £225.60 (as above)
CAMBELTS
25% discount on these, so prices are -
8V = £13.22 (as followers)
16V = £39.22 (as followers)
SPRINGS
Unforntuantly the don't do springs
PAYMENT
I had a breif chat regarding payment and they don't do paypal, so its either a cheque or phone up with a card, or a banker's draft can be done (similar to a cheque).
Tho this can all get messy as it will get to them in bits and peices, so what i am propossing is that when the time comes, everyone writes out a cheque for the correct amount and then puts there name and username, address and what there after on a peice of paper and post this to me, then once i have reiced everyones details and cheque, i will then post this in one go to newman.
hope this is all good for everyone.
On the list please state 16V or 8V and if followers are wanted.
and that money with order or before final payment deadline, then the oder will be dispatched within 14 days of final order deadline.
I know it's nearly Xmas, thats why i have said to Newman it will be for the beginning of the new year, as by then people will have some (enough to buy the cams) money.
Oh, this is also your choice of phase cam. e.g. PH1, PH2, PH3, PH4 or PH5
So, who would be interested in this?

Im waiting for the " are they like 708s? " post. Pffft 708s....
Anyway, that is a bargain and they are good cams. Excellent rep and Prodrive use them in there Ferrari race cars.
I can't buy them but good on you for making a group buy mate.

lol yes the ph3s are like 708s but have 6 degrees more duration on both inlet and exhaust but similar valve lift. 10mm i think.

Possibly and probably interested, especially since it is for beggining of new year, time to raise the cash etc. HOWEVER I know nothing about the Newmans ones, so if anyone who can answer the following would be great:
For a 2001 VTS with 40k miles and only induction kit and zorst system, is there anything else I'd need for them? (Apart from a remap once they're in... new belt maybe?) Or can I just take the old ones out, whack these in, get it mapped and thats it?? Thats for the ones that are the equivelent to 708s, (want a pretty good gain or whats the point)
If yes to the above than I'm 100% in, otherwise still on the line depending on what else I need etc...

PH3 are higher lift & longer duration than 708s but will still fit without any extra modification to the head / fueling system.
VTS has adjstable pulleys so all you need is a pair of cams.
VTR you'll need to buy a set of adjustable pulleys too but you only need a single cam (obviously )
I'd recommend getting a new cambelt when you get them fitted. Its not a necessity but better safe than sorry

Quite interested in them matey (as you prob already know).
Just one n00bie question. Where do these stand against Piper/Catcams/Kent.
Better or worse as Ive heard mixed reviews on them in the past.

yeah at this moment in time I've only got the Raceland on, but in december I'm getting zorst, 4-2-1 and sports cat, will make sure its all done before I even contemplate camming it! And yes mine was rolling Roaded @ Surrey at 126bhp and 114lb ft without the Raceland kit, dude said mine was the best std TU 16v he'd seen in ages (but they ALL say that), with it on it feels even better. Really want these cams now, especially as I'll just need to get the belt changed and map it
Add my name to the list! I'm in for PH3 cams

Be different, buy and find out.
People, you will need all breathing parts to get the best out of them.
There is a good thread on here with info. I would change h'gasket if high mileage, water pump, idler, tensioner and belt. And also cam oil seals. If your head has been skimmed, this makes your pistons sit closer to the valves @ TDC so you will need to know how much was skimmed off before dialing in the cams.

Thing is though I want to make sure that I dont run into issues later on at the
same time lol. Being different is cool, but also sticking to known methods is always
a safe bet.
Also the cams seem a bit too cheap imo.

they are normally £300 + VAT + delivery - so they are about the same price as 708's

I know what you mean Rush.
My Piper BP285's are getting mapped this week and im shitting it! (laugh out loud)
The good thing about Catcams is they are short duration and high lift.
These newmans are good price they would be about £250 delivered if 10 peeps buys. Catcams are about £320 iirc?
Sorry to spam the thread too guys, forgive me.
