Fitting aftermarket ecu
Not too sure where this should go, but is to do with performance!
What goes into fitting an aftermarket ecu, such as omex 600?
I'm having trouble on finding out about remaps and "aftermarket ecu and custom map" seems to be the better option - over an off the shelf map for the standard ecu.
And, is it worth all the trouble, expense and effort?
cheers

You have a few options. Imo it depends what your plans for the car are. If you are only planning mild mods then you could get somewhere ( ie chipwizards or similar) to map the standard ecu - Prob between £200-£400 for a remap. When using Omex or similar stand alone management you have the initial cost, then you would need to have your loom adapted to fit the plug supplied, so unless you're handy with the wires thats a job for the pro's. Then factor in the time on the rollers to map it as well. Hence why people usually don't go for the stand alone option unless they're going a bit further with mods, ie itb's, turbo, supercharger. Another option (I presume we're talking for a saxo/106) is the predator ecu which fits onto the standard loom, thus taking some of the cost out of things.

What performance modifications have you done to your saxo already? And what engine are we talking about?

2000 silver top vtr.
piper fast road cam so far, looking at a set of tb's - but reading up so I know exactly what im doing first. Which, i guess, will ultimately mean I have to get a new ecu.

Well if you're serious about going itb's eventually it makes sense to go stand alone now to be honest, rather than messing around with the standard ecu. Yes it will be costly, all depends what you want from the car, and whether you can justify spending that amount of cash on it
