Time to upgrade the Server!
For the techies:
The current server runs 2 x AMD Opteron Dual-Core processors with 4GB RAM.
The NEW server will run 2 x Intel Xeon 5400 Series Quad-Core Processors with 16GB RAM.
Upgrading the server will mean that there will be a short interruption to service while everything is transferred over. If all goes to plan this should not be more than a few minutes.
The new server is a custom build so we are still waiting for the hardware to be installed. Once we have more details on exactly when the upgrade will take place a further announcement will be made here.
There will be a number of changes in the coming weeks - we will do everything we can to reduce any downtime to a minimum and we hope that you will be patient with us while we work to make your time on Saxperience even more enjoyable and productive.

Thanks for the summary Mark. I'm sure we've made the right decision... again
As Mark says peeps, we will try (as usual) to keep the downtime to a minimum, however there is a LOT involved with completely switching servers. Not just the website part of this, but lots of server side work and email to manage also.
We've had a fair bit of practice upgrading servers, so hopefully this move will be slicker than ever before.
Over the next week or two (sooner rather than later) we intend to introduce a few new treats into the forums too. And then later, once a few more tweeks have been put in place, some larger changes will be made to the basics of the website. More news on that later.
The current server has proven itself fast and reliable, so we are confident the new server will handle absolutely anything we throw at it... and then some

There is, but in truth its probably more like V7 by now... lol
Weve taken the decision to keep updating the current website as much as possible (in terms of performance) before launching the new design website.

It better not become like facebook and have some new, over complex design.

I have been more than impressed with the servers for this site vs other similar clubs, so an upgrade is yet more good news about reliability etc
