Default First Rotary Use!! Newb!

Been using a rotary for the first time yesterday and today. Bought a scrap bonnet as I didn't want to try it on my car and balls it up!! Anyway

What I did/Equipment

Silverline Rotary Polisher
Megs Cutting & Finshing Soft Foam Pads
Megs 83 Duel Action Cleaner/Polish
Megs 80 Speed Glaze

Firstly started out by giving the bonnet a quick wash, then clay, and then dried.

Above: Clay after one side of bonnet

Then was onto polishing so started off with a cutting pad with Megs 83.

Today i used the Megs 80 on a finishing pad to remove the last few minor swirls that where left.

Pictures/Video:

Overall i though my first go using a Rotary went pretty well! The panel was quite Swirly and i think that i got most of them out. Best to look at the video to see the end result. Any "constructive criticism" is welcome. Only just getting to grips with it all, so any help would be appreciated

Cheers

Good plan buying a scrap panel....would have bought a spin doctor personally though as its much lighter. Suprising how your arms will start to ache with a silverline / kestrel rotary.

I bought it ages ago, but never got round to using it as i didn't have a spare panel. My arms did ache at the start I'm not gonna lie. But today I was fine. Just had to get used to it I suppose. Shall see how my arms do when i do a whole car.

What do you think of the panel and what I've done dude?

Your first time of using it? How many times did you go over it with Megs #83?

You bought that up very well imo. I'd be happy with that.

James.......

Edit.. He has already replied.

well I split the side I was correcting in half aswell, I had on half of that and my mate had the other half.

I then (in my head) split my section into four and did each bit twice with the 83, and then once with the 80. If that makes sense.

Cheers

The glaze is literally just a topping, it has practically no abrassives in it so only use that when your fully finished. Looks like you got some good results, practice and patience are key when polishing.

Top tip for a rotary is to keep it moving, you wont get away with staying still for long like you will with a DA. Dont know how much of a 'cut' you'll get from that polish, I use menzerna polishes, but i'd recommend if it's a heavy cutter then get a finishing polish and vice versa.

yeah that's why finished with that, there was some very light swirls in the panel, but the Megs 80 got them out and finished it nicely!!

I'm tempted to get this
