That quiksilver looks a beaut, but will be a step down performance wise, I would have a look at a couple more gti's first (without the dad lol) and if you can't find a decent gti then consider the quicky, if it is in good nick

exactly, but the deal was that i worked out with my parents is that since i cant afford the payment outright , is that my parents are helping me out with a few hundred quid and im paying it back monthly
so they wanna be there haha
the thing that pissed me off most is that , my dad isnt very " car minded " so anything that isnt normal to him is " broken "
was a perfect car, looked the tits and had the exact spec i wanted!
but mehh shit happens dont it

it does doenst it, and i am doing, still on the look out for a gti, but youre right will be a step down but i guess i can deal with it till decemeber!
i have two options though! im doing a 1.6 8v turbo build within the next few weeks either way to whack into a cheap little shell or should i whack it into the quick silver shell? or just put a cammed 16v lump in it?

Tell them to pipe down and you're going to buy it lol.

Ali i would put it into a cheap shell mate, it will cost an absolute fortune buying the quiksilver and building a turbo lump, so a cheap shell might be the best option tbh
But I don't get the fact that your dad won't let you have a lowered gti, but he's willing to let you have a turbo'd lump in a car lol

well im getting a 1.6 lump and 90% of the tubo parts for pennies so wont cost me that that much to do atall, so i will probs be putting into a cheap shell as a project over the next 6 months to a year
and they dont know about the turbo part yet
theyre oblivious to stuff like that, ive told them im buying an engine to play around with and they were like thats fine, they'll have no idea its getting boosted
but tbh i think i will go for this quicksilver, dirt cheap on insurance, by the looks of it and from speaking to the guy it seems to be in perfect nick! and in the mean time i'll buy my self a 16v and throw that in on insurance renewal in december, should hopefully have 1ncb by then too so should be all good!

haha same here mate, but because of all the trouble i had with my vtr they blamed it being modified, they said because it was lowered, exhaust etc that it broke the gearbox, twice :s they have nooo idea what so ever!
fair enough my manifold snapped at the downpipe which they blamed it on the car being lowered but there was no scrapping/dent on the exhaust where it had snapped so obviously wasnt down to that fact!
so...

Turbo builds cost a hell of a lot more than imagined mate, okay the bits like injectors, decomp, intercooler etc are cheap, but wait til you get to the engine management and mapping side, it costs a small fortune mate
If I was in your shoes, I would either buy a cammed 16v lump for the quicky, or buy a cheap shell for the turbo build tbh

yeah i understand mate
there is no deadline for the turbo build, it'll take how ever long it takes tbh to be able to afford everything inc the mapping and management, but like you said think it will be a cammed 16v lump going in!
just spoke to insurance now about swapping the policy over to the quicky if i do go ahead with it, we get back 370 quid from insurance and i asked them out of interest how much it would be roughly if i put in a cammed 16v engine in december if i got my one years ncb, they said it would be around the same price as it would cost to insure a cammed gti if i got my 1 years ncb which they said could be around the 1500 mark so not bad atall tbh
and as for the performance now it'll be reet, the car looks a beaut! and will be slightly better on fuel since i'll have to be travelling a good 45 mile commute a day from august onwards so should save a few pennies for a few months
