Getting a lens for my 400d for an airshow. I've narrowed it down to these two....

http://www.amazon.com/Canon-400mm-Su...896205&sr=1-39

http://www.amazon.com/Sigma-50-500mm...896591&sr=1-11

Really not sure which one would be best so i need advice lol

Thanks

(getting it from u.s amazon coz it's cheaper)

both lenses are good mate, but with a focal range between 50-500m you might find the images appear a little flat, i would probably go with the canon but maybe invest a little more and see if you can get the canon 100 - 400mm as this would be more versitle

http://www.amazon.com/Canon-100-400m...2906817&sr=1-1

have a look on ebay shops mate you can get some good deals, i picked up a new canon 28-135 image stablizer lens for £220 and in jessops its £550

here you go mate

This site I use to guide me through the dross,

I heard good reviews about the 50-500mm despite its size.

http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/s...&cat=37&page=2

the canon is an L lens so I would expect bloody good image quality (better than the sigma) on top of the fact its a prime lens (no zoom) so it should be uber sharp. But remember that the applications for the prime are limited whereas the 50-500mm has a slightly wider scope for usage.

I think i will probably end up going for the sigma, it seems to have a good reputation and it sounds really good value for money
