lightweight/race batteries
As I need to replace my battery in my 106 GTi I was wondering if a race/lightweight battery is a good option for a track car? Im looking around £60 for a standard one and haven't looked at the race battery prices.
For your information its a track car and will hardly ever be used on the road.
Also would like to know how easy they are to fit etc
Thanks

There is a thread in the track section, a few members made some suggestions. Might be worth a search.

unless you are going to fit a c-tec charger to it ,so it keps it charged all the time --don,t ,the wieght you will save will be hardly noticable on lap times --jut keep your foot off the brake another fraction of a second on each ccorner and you will gain far more

Cool. I'll just get a standard one then.

This answer will apply to a lot you may ask tbh joe
You dont need parts such as this battery
Time in the car is much more valuable

there is an inbetween solution for thsoe moving the battery
honda type R battery is smaller with same output -- and not expensive
fits in a box behind pasengers seat and if you have a rollcage bar across there just cut battery box to go round it and the battery will still fit in there .
don,t like batteyr in the bbot --weight too far back and longer power cables -which drop current flow under starting

the new LiON batteries are not that good either. If you let them go flat, that's it they're dead and extremely expensive too.
