Default Alarm

Could anyone recommend a good alarm system to get? I don't really know much about it all. First I looked at was this:
http://www.hawkcaralarm.com/CarAlarm...mobiliser.aspx
I thought they'd be more expensive than that.. I saw a guide on here for fitting Hawk alarms.. so are they decent?

I'm planning to get a decent cd player and speakers later this year so thought getting an alarm might be a good idea too since you could probably break into a Saxo just by staring at it for long enough

Good alarm for the money, I'm looking for a new alarm system at the moment, would like to get a cat 1. Is there any particular model anyone can recommend on a budget?

Reevsey, I have read your post found it very helpful but my question is what would you recommend as a budget cat 1 alarm? How much am I looking at fitted?

If you car is a 1996 + you dont need a full cat 1 alarm as the car will have a cat 2 immobiliser factory fitted, you need a cat 2-1 upgrade that you should be able to get supplied and fitted for about £200. If you fancy a drive to Royston in Hertfordshire I can sort you out.

so, hijacking somewhat, but what would be best in the £30-50 range, I have zero crime around here, so dont care if its not great at all, just fancy getting my head around wiring alarms in, and gives me something to do for a day/afternoon!
