Yeah it handles like a ship but I bought it with my eyes open knowing that

I've got Cadwell Park booked later this month, then Vmax 200 at Bruntingthorpe end of the month, then the first Nurburgring trip in 3 weeks time... It's a busy next month for the car for sure!

One of the sales advisor here said his father in law has one, faster than the R8 as well by all accounts.

In a straight line a modified rs6 would decimate an R8. R8's aren't quick - even muz's slow old m5 would probably give one a run for it's money.

Maybe.

A decent RS4 will do a V8 R8

So. First ring trip of this year is here already.

Three laps yesterday were uneventful. I need better tyres (on Dunlop sport maxx currently but will soon be changing). In the dry I'm about a minute down on the rs4 at 09:30ish laps. That's about all I can do with this until I've better tyres and maybe some H&R anti roll bars.

Today. The day started with heavy snow. Enough that the track didn't open until about 1000hrs. First out though and 6 laps done in the snow. Loads of learning opportunities and a great deal of fun.

There's been several fairly good sized crashes already today but hopefully the sun will curb that a little. Stupid BMW drivers clearly don't understand what little power they have going to the rear wheels in the snow = crash. Stay at home. Like muz.

Of course, having Quattro, the 730hp rs6 is drivable. Even by girls.

Now it's drying fast. Sun is out, so good times ahead hopefully. Tomorrow or Monday I'll rent a swift to get some quicker laps in.

So in summary your higher powered car is slower than your older RS4?

On a track yep 100%. (Although passing a 600hp gtr going flat out today didn't impress him much...).

On the motorway no. The rs6 demolishes everything I've come across so far.

But I knew this when I bought it. It soundly be good on track - it's not designed for it. Remember it comes down to a car I can use everywhere in luxury 350 days a year and compromise 15 days a year rather than drive a track car in agony 350 days a year just to "enjoy it" the remainder

Lol - not at the moment, but I am considering buying one - read on

Right - in other news, car's back from a long weekend away at the Nurburgring. And it was epic. Car drove there faultlessly, did 6 laps in the audi, and drove home, wanting for nothing other than fuel. Car was a real pleasure to drive on the long haul - making mincemeat of the motorways in comfort and speedy luxury. Several upset high-performance car owners in its wake too - 911 turbo on the way out, and a 600hp GTR on the return trip both found out you don't fuck with an audi estate

Easter weekend is traditionally the busiest at the 'ring and it lived up to that big time. 'Car Friday' is rapidly becoming known as carnage Friday, but we managed to escape the mayhem and stay alive. Saturday was pretty horrible weather in the morning (snowing!) so that was a great chance to get out on track and enjoy myself. The RS6 is so drivable I used the chance to get Dom's girlfriend driving on the 'ring for her first ever lap. 700hp, first lap of the ring, in the snow... what could possibly go wrong? Nothing - it's an Audi, not a BMW. So we didn't die.

Saw a few people I know, met a few new guys I didn't know before (some RS owners so was nice ). Didn't meet up with Kev, but heard he crashed more than once so hopefully got home OK. Saw the video of one of his crashes from a car following who was staying at our hotel.

This is my first stay away from Martins hotel (the usual choice for Josh and the lads). I have to say, I'll not be going back to Martins again - this hotel was lovely. It's where my mates stayed on my first ever trip and I always said I'd go back - now I don't see myself going anywhere else. Food was excellent, accommodation was genuinely two/three star standard, and nothing was too much trouble. The games etc (pool table, late night bar, race seat PS3's) all made it real nice. Very very happy. Huge bonus was that it's ironically cheaper than Martins too.

The RS6 is 100% not the right car for any track action obviously, so I've decided to look out for a dedicated track car to keep the itch scratched. I rented a Swift from Rent4Ring over the weekend, and did 4 laps in that and it's fucking mega so need a slice of that tbh. They're so well setup and are amazing little cars. Tiny bit underpowered but once on song you just don't brake - for anything. Incredible little things have really won me over. I'll probably end up buying one - I've already spoken to rent4ring about buying one of theirs they are due to retire so we'll see what comes from that.

Epic little swift:

Snowing on the Saturday:

730hp RS6 so easy to drive on the 'ring, even a girl can do her first lap there in it...

And a photo for you Kev (looks like after crash No1):

In other news, we're back on Saturday to the 'ring again - this time to collect Dom's car. That's another story. See his thread

I rented a Swift last year, they are epic.
Balanced and enough of a handfull for 95% of all drivers.

What hotel did you stay at?

Hotel: http://michaelanring.wix.com/fuchsroehre

I split the Swift rental costs with Dom's girlfriend which actually makes it very affordable. And it's a very capable car - genuinely hassling porsches to get out of the way through twisty sections.
