it doesnt stop you from scamming really imo
useful though, as sometimes ive seen people use pics of other peoples. personally I just say collect only these days (not just because im no where near my car parts) but then nobody could ever say i was a scammer (i know im not, but theres a lot of accusations that are flying around)
|
its to help try and stop scamming/selling fckd bits etc.
imo the more we can help stop scamming on saxp the better.
you cant aways collect bits in person.
it want stop scamming but it will make people think before buying.

nothing nasty
but its effort to sell anything then.
end of the day
do your research on the person selling the item.
ask them do you have any feedback elsewhere(eg ebay or other forums)
read there previous posts/threads
and if your not happy with the item pictures
ask for more
if they dont give.
dont bother buying.

As said before, it's all common sence really. I was once told that if you have any doubts at all - Just don't do it.

He didnt have any of the parts he claimed to be selling, if the rule had been in place he wouldnt have been able to fakely claim to have these parts as hed not have been able to post a pic with his name + item..
I quite like the idea to be honest, dont see any reason not to other than it being a pain for people that have lots of items up for sale and will have to retake pictures
That said if they are legit sellers im sure they wont mind giving piece of mind to the buyers!

Good idea... But like Ryan said.... it's a rule just like the others... they get broken.
We would need a specific Mod for the For sale section to keep on top!

i've started doing this on my UK fiesta network selling threads. Just gives the buyer that extra bit of peace of mind, which is never a bad thing.
i'll start doing it on here too in future. great idea mate.

And thus it shows there are hundreds of idiots on here willing to pay for stuff theyve never seen.
if you cant see a pic of it, either dont buy it or go and collect it to make sure its what your after
adding a rule wont increase anyones intelligence

for the scam to work it needs the buyer to agree to something unsafe like paying by gift... if you dont pay by gift paypal will always side with the buyer and youll get your money back
tho it always feels better when you have a pic of the item before you pay, thats why i always ask for one if its something worth a fair bit of money.

Unfortunately I agree. For items i sell that are expensive i noramlly stick my name on abit of paper and have that in the pics but if i was a scammer this wouldn't guarentee that you would get your item. People seem to be very naive when buying things on forums and trusting people that they have never met.
Pay on collection or pay via paypal (not gift) and this will help to cover you if anything goes wrong.

"Because it will get broken" is not a good reason for not having a rule.
A rule being stupid is a good reason, a rule that is likely to get broken is not.
For example, people advertise as a company on here, people try to sell on behalf of other people, people don't state a price for their items.
These are all rules, they get broken.
If a rule is beneficial to the selling/buying process, it should be added, but in the case, I don't think it is.

Sounds great in principal and is clearly good practice. I wonder how many people will stick to doing this though?
This is being discussed in the staff room...

It's the same with the other rules, it will need heavily policed to start with Si, but once it's been drilled in it will become the norm...
Good to hear that it's being considered though!

i think this is a really good idea just gives piece of mind to the buyer.
couldnt you simply lock a thread which does not have a username in the photo, then message the seller to repost a pic with his username next to the item?
or would this be too long winded?

Good idea. If it turn's into a rule - i will follow it.
I've been on here 3 year's now and would hope people have plenty of respect and faith in me anyway. But i don't mind doing stuff like this to gain or keep that respect and faith.
I've personally only ever bought one item off the internet without seeing it - it was a gamble but i risked it. It happened to work out perfectly for me. I wouldn't normally do it but i was desperate lol.
Would never buy anything off SaxP without photo's though. Not saying all young people are like it, but alot of young people are nob's lol.

It's a fairly good idea, personally i would never buy anything off here for more than £30 or so unless i was collecting it.

I think it sounds like a good idea in all honesty, bit of extra piece of mind never hurts anyone.
Might need another mod or two in the for sale section tho... just to keep on top of the extra rule

Well I'm gonna use (and have done) so people know I actually have the item..
Not exactly a hard thing to do
