Default HD/Xbox Crap for Dummies

Like Moi!
Im admit its confusing the hell out of me. So I have a few questions/statements
that I hope you can help me with...

1: Currently there are no channels using 1080p?

2: Only HD DVDs and Xbox 360 games use 1080p currently?

3: 720p is classed as basic HD playback, 1080p would be the extreme and is only
found to be provided by much larger more expensive HD TVs?

4: A 26" HDTV most likely not support 1080p playback (only 1080i)?

5: 720p will still look better than 1080i?

6: You dont need a HDMI cable to view Xbox 360 games in 720p? Will a basic
scart plug do?

Sure I will have more questions later but that should help me understand more.
Thanks in advance.

1. Correct

2. HD DVDs, Bluray, 360 and PS3 are all capable of running 1080p

3. 1080p is classed as "true" HD, but yeah mostly the expensive TVs that support it, or upscale it from 1080i to p.

4. Usually but some do play 1080p

5. You're unlikely to see much of a difference unless you're playing it on a 50"+ screen. I've tried both on my 37" plasma panasonic and couldn't see much of a difference, I still play it on 1080i. Most people say the same about the difference from 1080i to p aswell though.

6. No you dont need a HDMI cable, just the 5 component connectors that comes with the 360.

Cheers for that!

Now let me mix it up a bit. Ive been reading way too much into this, now looking
into things like contrast and response times.

What Ive noticed is, is that TFT monitors have a better contrast rating and
response time over HDTV sets.
My mate said go for a TFT over a LCD, I see his point but never buy just by
word of mouth...

Was looking at this one:
