I actually installed my broadband in to the exchange so shouldn't have an excuse for it being shit.

Upload speed is disappointing though.

Didn't someone say that tests like these aren't very accurate anyway?

there is one thing about internet speeds that pisses me off, which ISP dont mention and that is... say they sell you a package with 10meg bandwidth the thing is you're area where you live may only be able to aquire 8megs so you as a consumer are actually paying out more then you should be as you're not getting what you have exactly paid for!

Norway, Holland have been on fibreoptic cabling for nearly 10 years now! and its only been the past 3 maybe 4 years we are starting to have it properly installed here. first places was uni's, schools, hospitals & emergency services.

thats why you're uni connection is awesome they have a direct hook up to the main Fibre Optic HUB.

give it another 5 years and we shall have speeds as fast as the uni and it be at our home

Dont know what all the excitement is about you can only downlaod as fast as the server which is hosting the data runs at...

yeh exactly and I also mentioned that in my post. i.e you buy from an ISP claiming they are giving you 10meg but in reality your local cables etc etc may only take upto 8meg so you're not actually getting what you are paying for!

Afaik, they rarely claim to give you 10mb, the wording is 'usually up to 10mb'.

so really they should test your lines and stat it can only handle 8mbs. then they charge you the correct amount for an 8mb line.

why should someone with say an 8mb line pay the same amount another person in a different area is paying, when they have an extra 2mbs?

speeds seem to be very consistent with them. My ISP is actually O2, but they use BeThere. The main reason for me being with them is the price, i pay a fiver a month, and thats split between 4 of us

when downloading, with a good amount of seeders we have seen over 1mbps download speeds which is all good

only problem we have had is last night and 2 days ago the connection went, but god knows why. might have been the router, might have been the line
