Default New Laptop

Well mines fubard and I'm gonna get a new one. asically what I'm after is:

17" screen
About 200GB HD
3 or 4GB RAM

Mainly used for Internet, music, graphic design etc

Liking the look of the new Samsung ones as well.

Around £500-£700?

Thanking you!

Bit of advice do NOT go for the 3 or 4gb ram to decide your laptop. You can go to PC world and get a fast dual core with 4gb for £399 but I guarantee I can get a 2 year old HP to outperform it in everything.

Look at the chip you are getting, if it has a fast FSB rate and a higher cache then the speed makes little difference. You dont need to know what they mean but if they dont print it, its because its crap.

As a general rule a decent chip will (normally) infer a decent motherboard and other components. For laptops, stick to HP Compaq IBM (for business use) or Dell.
