id rather spunk that 300 on making the car stop and turn than accelerate faster (as the best way to go fast is carry corner speed better)

decent matched fixed damping suspension kit (spax or apex are the 2 i liked out of what ive had apex being my favorite) and they go for about 200 quid new

and then got a bit you could spend on some 1144s and a set of decent discs

White with white wheels will look "too" white imo. With black wheels is the typical approach.

Hope youve got plenty of cleaning gear aswell, their a cu*t to keep clean.

fair enough then

in that case
decent panel filter
decent exhaust
manifold

and theres youe 300 gone
over and above that as said a mild cam that doesnt need a remap is about all you could do

and dependant on the use of the car an s2 rallye heat exchanger for the oil cooling so it can take a bit more before your oil starts to get a bit warm

So i take it there isnt a big tuning scene for the 8v engine never really heard of them making good power figures maybe its for this reason.

not really no

most put a 16v in there

but they can see up to about 170hp in n/a spec if highly tuned

or boost is more popular on them

but tbh not many do tune them

im in the middle of doing a project with a vtr and im spending on everything but the engine (but not massively expensive stuff) and i think ill have a pretty fun and quick car but literally 100% standard engine even standard aribox and exhaust with a cat in there

its not haveing 130 hp ect that matters when you drive the car properly imo

hence my origonal post saying i would spend elsewere

lol, i wouldnt expect a 'big tuning scene for the 8v's' if your budget is 300 quid. And there is a very big tuning scene for the VTR's mate.

I didnt say i was going to build a 10 seccond car with £300 my plan isnt to build a quick car else id buy a c20let and buy some phase 2 software and through it in my corsa tomorrow. I was just woundering why not meny people tune them. And for the "expect big tuning scene from 8v's" 8v's can make good power not saying vtr engines can becuase i dont no much about them.

Ok fella, not quite sure what u mean by bringing up the 2.0 vauxhall engines all the time isn't going to help anything. - And alot of people tune VTR's, im one of them, and im sure theres hundreds more people who are tuning up their VTR whether its for the 3-5bhp gains on the induction or boosting it up you know?

long term plan is track yea

so far the cars been back to a bare shell pretty much the main idea was to save weight but not look heavily stripped ect
interior refitted minus all sound deadening and rear seatbelts cant use rear seats due to fixed lotus elise front seats harness on the drivers (yes its an mot fail i remove the seats for the mot though lol) removing as much weight as i can (even cut most of the pacel shelf out and trimmed over it so you cant see) battery in the boot with a kill switch in the passenger footwell ect so weight distribution is better and genally things moved around/removed here and there

the actual mods to the car are
98hp vtr motor
1.4 106 xsi gearbox
valeo clutch
b&m short shift
23mm master cylender
wilwood 285mm 4 pot front brakes
goodridge braided lines
15" compomotive wheels
yokohama prada spec 2 tyres
apex 50mm suspension kit
powerflex front wishbone mounts
powerflex front arb mounts
vts front arb
pugsport group n rear wishone mounts
pugsport group n topmounts
poly race rear beam bushes
pugsport group A semi rigid engine mounts

probably a few other bits ive forgot
